Another d-man prospect? - Assman22
Well, Mitchell is the 152nd best prospect in the league. Can't count on him.

Another d-man prospect? - Assman22
Taking from elite prospects:
Bode Wilde is a talented and competitive defender that plays a tenacious 200-foot game. His balance and acceleration in-stride is noteworthy and he is never caught in no-man's land, or doing nothing. He is proactive and hard-nosed in pursuit if puck control, and he reads queues in all three zones naturally and quickly. Defensively, he is a beast and always looks to take time and space away from the opposition. He erases the open lane, keeps opponents to the outside, and is physical along the wall. In-transition, he is able to make that outlet pass or, more than likely, take it up himself to set up the trap. Offensively, he showcases a very hard, accurate shot that leaps off his stick. He can also open up space by way of his skating ability, size, and handling of the puck. Thanks to his quick thinking in making the high-percentage decision, he can be very difficult to read and play against. All-in-all, Wilde is a smart, competitive, and sizey two-way D-man that can provide a team with numbers on the board and stability on the ice. [EP 2018]

Saw this on an Islander blog. Stan, hope Rocky gave you the quarter to make the call to Lou:
ISLANDERS GET
DYLAN STROME
BLACKHAWKS GET
2021 2ND ROUND PICK
BODE WILDE - LAHawk
How’s Wilde progressing? What is his ceiling/floor?
Edit: Just saw your update, thanks. We’ll take him, get Stan on the phone. |

Sorry that's not going to happen, no way uncle Lou trades Wilde since he traded Toews to sign Barzal. I imagine Wilde will be given every chance to make the big club next season. |

Why do I have a feeling that Lou would take Stan to the cleaners in a trade?

Why do you think Lou is such a great GM? He hasn't won a SC since what, 2000? Are you willing to give Stan 20 years to win a SC? |

I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Rather a forward prospect but wilde beaudin boqvist zadorov defense parings not bad. |

Outside of the Tampa Bay Rays and KC Royals there are very few farm systems in any sport you can take to the bank. Maybe the NE Patriots and TB Lightening?
Therefore, if everybody else is lumped together, ratings are meaningless.
I don't know what it is about those two baseball teams you can't tell me they spend more than the Cubs on scouting and development. You would think over time Cubs would pass them up. Same goes for Blackhawks. Thing was, for 10 years Hawks drafted at the bottom and traded away assets. I think Hawks will catch up. |

Hawks had 6 guys on Pronman's list of 155 Best Players under 23.
16) Dach (Elite/High End Bubble)
30) DeBrincat (High End)
55) Boqvist (High End/Very Good Bubble)
117) Reichel (Very Good)
120) Nylander (Very Good)
152) Mitchell (Very Good) - HawkintheD
These types of lists are always subjective, but I think there are some serious discrepancies:
J Hughes (8) and Kakko (9) are ranked higher than Q Hughes (11) and Makar (13). They're all in the "elite" category, but Q Hughes and Makar are far better. I'm biased, but I'd rank Dach over J Hughes and Kakko.
Not to mention that Cole Caufield at #49 is an absolute JOKE. |

Pronman states "It is a projection of who will have the best careers, not who is the best player today." So.... it is utterly, and completely meaningless. - Chunk
So he is God too? Why would he even say a thing like that. He is a fool.

Yeah, salivating over here!
I would do that trade. Wilde checks allot of boxes for the type of defender the Hawks need more of. Plus Chicago would get a 2nd rounder.
When the Hawks drafted Beaudin at 27th in 2018, I was wanted either Veleno or Wilde instead.
With Toews and Dach as the top 6 centers, have Wallmark and Kampf as the bottom 6 centers then this buys time to identify a long-term 3C. |

Put this in the "it would never happen" pile but I saw this trade proposal in the Capfriendly armchair GM section where people can propose lineups, trades, signings, etc.
TOR: Toews, Kane (with 50% salary retention, IIRC)
CHI: Marner, Nylander, Kerfoot, 2021 1st, 2022 1st, 2023 1st |

Cool! TOR finally gets a forward that understands defense.

I'm interested to see how the "marks" integrate into the lineup. I'm bullish on Janmark. I really haven't seen much on Wallmark. |

Full article just posted in the Sun Times.
"The process that eventually led to the trade's execution and Zadorov's acquisition, however, was lengthy and intensive.
It started when the Hawks determined they would not elect to re-sign Brandon Saad - who has one year left at a $6 million cap hit on his current contract - when he becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.
That decision stemmed from two things: a desire to create more cap flexibility for the Hawks, and a belief that Saad would demand at least $6 million or more for his next deal, too."

So Toews finally becomes the 3C behind Matthews and Tavares......
I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Hate to see Toews and Kane leave but Marner and those 1st round picks.
3/4 this board would implode with 2 Nylanders lol.

I think the last part is the reason Saad was traded. In the new COVID world you don't pay him 6 mil or more. |

Looks like Stan and L_B_R have a big difference of opinion on Zadorov.

That makes a lot of sense paint them all with the same brush brilliant - oldduffman
14 goalies selected in the first round since 2000. Two thirds of them are garbage, and only a couple are elite.
Goalies are rarely worth a first round pick, and even when they are, they end up getting bigger contracts quickly. Having a goalie as your highest paid player is a recipe for disaster. |
