I've found that SNL is at a real low ebb these days. I thought Jim Carrey was going to be much better as Biden, although in his defence, I don't think the writers have given him much to work with.

Jim Carey as Sleepy anybody just doesn’t work. But yeah, Trump setting himself on fire every day does has a certain what the (frank) humour. Secret bank account in China is delicious.

I do agree with Max that there is plenty of blame to be shared, and it isn't.
Doctors in the states were incentivized to prescribe it.
Hell, I had a tooth extraction a few years ago. Dentist told me he was going to give me Oxy to dull the pain. I told him I didn't want any, as I had small kids in the house, and didn't want to take the risk of addiction.
He said, "OK, I'm just going to write you a prescription - if you don't want them, don't fill it, but I really think you are going to need them."
He wrote a prescription for 20 franking doses.

I've had that same experience. Moderate back strain. Yeah, I need the anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants. I said meh, pain isnt too bad. Bingo, script for I forget which ones, but heavy painkillers. Which later were totally abused by my alcoholic ex.

When I was in government they put severe restrictions on how opioids could be prescribed - I think it was no more than one or two at a time and very strict rules on information collecting of pharmacies, docs.
A huge percentage of people going through the criminal justice system have opioid abuse issues, although all kinds of new combos are cropping up as supplies get harder to find.
