Ladd maybe? Islanders could use Hoffman if he wanted to go there. - Aaron_85
Huh?
Isles aren't signing Hoffman or anybody else. They have 8.9 million in space to sign Barzal and Pulock. They're atleast 4-5 million short.
Ladd and Boychuk both have contracts that are buyout proof. Buyout saves less then a demotion. They need to pay a team to take one of those contracts before they can sign their own guys. |

Hearing former #FlaPanthers asst GM Eric Joyce is joining the #Leafs in a role expected to be Director of Hockey Strategy. - GreatGigInTheSky
That's good news... Eric Joyce and Mackenzie Weegar are really close.. Maybe, I don't know.. I may have made that up, but still. |

Looking at the list of arb's ....the only team that could maybe think about using a buyout would be the Isles after Pulock's arbitration.
But, they don't have many good buyout candidates. They are probably in the midst of begging Detroit and Boychuks agent to help them out of their cap crunch. - The Law
I'll take Wilde, Wahlstrom and a 1st. 🤣 |

It's because if we had Brown, we couldn't afford Matthews.. Not having Matthews could hurt, like a lot. |

I did no research on the Islanders before making my reply. I was only aware of Boychuk's buyout proof contract. Was figuring Ladd might be a candidate and that money would help sign Hoffman - who I think will have to settle for a 1 year 3 to 5 million dollar deal somewhere.

Because they had to trade the original "rebuild" prospects before they could even sniff any success. |

#Leafs losing Brown, Kapanen and Johnsson (before they won a round, nevermind a championship) hurts them more than some realize.

We didn't realize that?
Traikos is being dramatic ....
If he's regurgitating the narrative that they should've had more success by now ....yawn, we all know that. So it's not "more than we realize".
If he's saying that it's even worse than that ...then I have no (frank)ing idea what he's talking about.
Win or lose those contracts were moving.

Rumour has it Max became angry and told the Leafs to take a Hintz and Faksa off. He applied to be the team doctor but he didn't get that job either. It now appears Max's chances of working for the Leafs is Muzzin'd in the water. |

His cash is low and his AAV is high. He's an oft-injured 3rd pairing guy. You can pick guys like him up for 700k right now.
So for Detroit is sacrificing about 4 milly in cash and the Cap space for two years. What's the ask?
Marleau cost the Leafs a 1st and he was 1 yr of 6.25 Cap space and about 4 million in cash. |

That's fine. It's not like the Wings would be picking there anyway. Even with the worst record. |
