His cash is low and his AAV is high. He's an oft-injured 3rd pairing guy. You can pick guys like him up for 700k right now.

So for Detroit is sacrificing about 4 milly in cash and the Cap space for two years. What's the ask?

Marleau cost the Leafs a 1st and he was 1 yr of 6.25 Cap space and about 4 million in cash.

Wings would have to at least get a 1st. After that I don't know. I suggested Wilde before because I know Dobson is off the table.

An average top 9 forward signs a contract extension in Ottawa...

Toronto media, "Stupid Leafs they could have had Brown if they didn't spend so much on the top 4 forwards, Dubas is in over his head"

I would think it would have to be a 1st rd pick as well.

The GM of the year, may now have to do some actual GM work

Step 1 for building a good team, win a championship

Step 2, trade middling support players for treasure trove of assets

Step 3, now you're a contender

Steve Sullivan syndrome. Scored a bunch of goals playing on a bad Leafs team because he had a boat load of ice time. Would Brown be as productive playing for the Leafs? Or is he benefitting from playing on a bad Sens team playing a ton of minutes?

Rumour has it Max became angry and told the Leafs to take a Hintz and Faksa off. He applied to be the team doctor but he didn't get that job either. It now appears Max's chances of working for the Leafs is Muzzin'd in the water.

Yup. That's exactly it.

Good for Brown being in a good situation for himself.

He's a bottom 6 player on a good team.

I'd do it if I was Detroit. Could be a lottery pick. Just gotta get Lou to not lottery protect it.

I liked Sullivan too, and wished they kept him instead of signing Dmitri Khristich, but yeah he was just a good player on a bad team that took advantage of more ice time..

Brown at 3.6 or Mikheyev and Simmonds are 3.145?

Hmm... tough call

Sure, I didn't say it wouldn't impact votes/opinion. My point was we shouldn't care that much and he could've done a much better job minimizing the damage.

He's always been an egotistical turd with a huge ego and no self awareness.

Isn't the bigger win for the Dems that Bill Clinton succeeded where Giuliani failed?

I don’t even mean politically as much as personal humiliation of what he looks like. I guess we’ll see tomorrow

Well Brown and Mikheyev are close.

Simmonds is a non-factor, hell I think he sucks.

So advantage Mikheyev and Simmonds only because they cost less.

I like Brown. Always have and most likely always will. Seems like a really good dude. But the bolded is 100% the reason why.

This is the first time in two years that Simmonds has been healthy!!!!

It's what I tell myself, every night, as I quietly cry and rock myself to sleep.

I'm really hoping Simmonds proves to everyone he's healthy and can still contribute.

TSN was discussing how all of these signings are "prove it" players.

Brodie needs to prove it was Giordano carrying him.
Bogosian has to prove he is legit and not Hedman doing everything.
Thornton needs to prove he can still play at age 41
Simmonds proving he's healthy and it was injuries holding him back recently

I think the steal for him is the term. It carries right through covid and any fall out on the salary cap for it. He's got job security for 3 years. Good deal.

Pretty much.

I am more confident about the first three panning out. Bogosian really needs to be a in a controlled role though imo.

Friedman thinks there's a chance Thornton starts the season on wing with Matthews and Marner.

I think that it's way too early to be talking about this, and I also think that Keefe has demonstrated he's not afraid to do wild, wacky line combinations on a whim.

Frank, I just hope we get hockey this year.
