With his speed and size, if Jake could evolve into a puck retrieval machine, he would be a great fit for Miller/Petey...but that requires that he evolve, we shall see - CoolerHeads
I’ve been a JV supporter since his rookie year, but was ready to move on this offseason.
That said, I’m fine with the way things have shaken down now.
JV seems to have taken his playoffs criticism on board and I fully expect him to continue to improve.
JTM seems to be a mentor for him, so I’d be good with seeing him on that top line for a good stint.
Another concern is that while Virtanen can score goals, he doesn’t have a track record of helping the team as a five-man unit score when he takes the ice. Virtanen’s been a very efficient point producer over the last two years and yet the lines he plays on score more goals without him than they do with him. This suggests that he can create individual chances and goals but that the inability to get teammates involved actually drags the five-man unit’s collective scoring rate.
Putting him with Bo isn't ideal as he's not a good passer, and moving Boes to Bo's line isn't great either as his numbers slump dramatically.

What lines are they referring to? 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th?

Not a good look for Jake:

Don’t need fancy stats to tell that JV is a north south go it alone type dude.
If he can be responsible defensively, then he can be a good 3rd wheel on the top line.

Big if. - dbot
He could be really valuable to a weaker team that struggles to produce offense and doesn't have much depth at forward. They could rely on him to generate his 20+ goals on a 2nd or 3rd line without the need for a skilled playmaking center. Jake Today would have been ideal for the Canucks 3-4 seasons ago.
The only way that happens is if Green is given the boot - Makita
Ya, he allows every other player some leeway, Jake does a minor mistake, he is at end of bench.
Not impressed with Green, Defense coach Special teams.
The just let one of the 2 coaches I like walk, so they can hang onto Brown and Bumgarntner

They let him walk or didn’t stand in the way of his promotion 🤷♂️

It’s funny you should mention that given how much Jake talked about how “Travis knows how good i am” and how much they seem to trust eachother and how he’s working hard given what JB has said publicly. He seems motivated, and also seems to have a great relationship with Green. I see both as a good sign.

It’s called being diplomatic, Green hates Virtanen and is clearly evident the way he uses him

I really didn’t see or hear that based on what the kid has to say. You’ve made your assumption based on his usage, ive made mine based on what im seeing. I think when he’s playing well, he see a lot of icetime. That’s how he got on track for 20 goals. But he’s not going to be given it, needs to bring it and earn it. I think i can see where you’re coming from, but i just disagree based on what im seeing in a developing and inconsistent player. Each to their own!

It's funny how you would believe everything players or management say to the media.
They have to start seeing what some of these kids have, never mind bringing in a Granlund Haula Athanasiou, let's take a look at Lind and Brisebois and Rafferty and Jasek and Juolevi and Baileyl - Reubenkincade
Normally I disagree with nearly everything you say BUT GODDAMN your last 5-6 posts I agree with fully.
Bob Dylan once said "The times they are a changing" - Ron Burgundy never heard that song - but old Brooksy did and took it to heart.

Cool, good reply.
Personally my observations are the opposite, Virtanen played much better during the season under the mentor ship of Miller, but Green just wouldn’t give him any extra playing to build his confidence.
If they were both so in tune and complimentary to each other, why was it reported that Virtanen requested a trade during the playoffs? This was network television reporting this not the idiots like Dhaliwal or JD Burke.

Last year he was 6th in even strength scoring among forwards with 27 of his 36 points coming at EV. That seems like a pretty great % to me. So I read that criticism as....he's not helping his line mates get 5on5 points but he's getting a lot of 5on5 points.....we all know that he gets bounced around the lineup like a Mike Tyson speed bag yet he still produces with little special unit TOI. Seems like a more reasonable solution would be to give him more consistent/better line mates for longer than 3 shifts a game once every 10 games.....

Jake has had too many opportunities. Last chance and he will fail. Ship him off for some shoe polish for Jimmy . Funny hearing people still whining about Green. He deserved the Jack Adams for getting this group of trash to within one game of the finals. Goddamn miracle worker
