Jake has had too many opportunities. Last chance and he will fail. Ship him off for some shoe polish for Jimmy . Funny hearing people still whining about Green. He deserved the Jack Adams for getting this group of trash to within one game of the finals. Goddamn miracle worker - CanuckDon
Markstrom would’ve been responsible for any Jack Adams coach Green would be entitled to. Kinda like in 2007 when Vigneault won because of Luongo.

Cool, good reply.
Personally my observations are the opposite, Virtanen played much better during the season under the mentor ship of Miller, but Green just wouldn’t give him any extra playing to build his confidence.
If they were both so in tune and complimentary to each other, why was it reported that Virtanen requested a trade during the playoffs? This was network television reporting this not the idiots like Dhaliwal or JD Burke. - Makita
I never read or watched any news regarding JV asking for a trade.
Seems like fake news. Why would JV want out, he is part of the best hockey organization in the world, with the best gm ever wise only misstep has been not signing the best coach to a longer term deal. Have faith, it's all coming together nicely.
Pres approves this management group, especially with TL back channeling trades for top 4D. Things are looking great.

One game from the finals? What are we, the maple leafs? The third round isn't the finals, dude....
Last year he was 6th in even strength scoring among forwards with 27 of his 36 points coming at EV. That seems like a pretty great % to me. So I read that criticism as....he's not helping his line mates get 5on5 points but he's getting a lot of 5on5 points.....we all know that he gets bounced around the lineup like a Mike Tyson speed bag yet he still produces with little special unit TOI. Seems like a more reasonable solution would be to give him more consistent/better line mates for longer than 3 shifts a game once every 10 games..... - Brooks_Light
Well said.
I do admit, I have soured a bit on Jake after the playoffs and the thingy, but again, he bounced everywhere, including the pressbox.

Not sure who said it, one of the talking heads, James Duthie maybe. But it was said, and I wouldn’t blame Jake the way he is treated by Groan...err I meant Green

Don’t need fancy stats to tell that JV is a north south go it alone type dude.
If he can be responsible defensively, then he can be a good 3rd wheel on the top line.
Big if. - dbot
The top line is a more cerebral, passing attack. JV's north/south game fits okay, but it's not a great mesh.
If he's actively going alone, that means he's not involving his line mates, which are the two best offensive players on the team.

He gets a lot of 5 on 5 points alone – which is fine, nothing inherently wrong with that. But he doesn't make his linemates better. Him being on the third line is fantastic, it's great to have a player be able to add that scoring depth. But if he's just a solo run-and-gun guy on the top line... that's working against your team, especially when your top line is a puck control group.
