In NYC? Ya, right. I know people that do in the city, though – good way to save money.
I stay with my parents when I visit Vancouver. Spent over a month there when I came back in August. And gosh golly, it sure was nice to spend time with them during a pandemic.
That was the implication. They still live with their parents = not normal behaviour. - NewYorkNuck
I thought you moved back at the start of the pandemic. Perhaps you were pondering it.
I feel sorry for the younger generation not having the same opportunity to enjoy those 'wacky times as a renter'. Like Nelson, I split home at 18, did a year in Europe and then shared a house in east Van with 4 roommates as a busboy. It was awesome. Times are way different now and they were before COVID. I know a lot of people who have kids in their 20's living at home while having good jobs. Nothing wrong with hunkering down with family when the Trump Flu is flying around.

Especially as a hockey player – they're removed from their families for a long time growing up, the city where they live is solely because of their team, and most of their teammates are in their home towns. Not like they can go out anyways. May as well be with family and hunker down/train for the new season.
I'm pondering leaving New York – but Deutschland is the next stop I think.

I’m not sure why but there is a negative connotation when people say living in my parents basement as if you cannot manage on your own.
My son supported his girlfriend of the day while she was getting her PHD, (all with no student loans) and he needed to penny pinch, I built a one bedroom apartment over our garage and charged $600 a month.
Then my daughter and her husband asked if I would build her a rental apartment because they were moving back to the island after 5 years in Vancouver in the movie business. So I renovated the downstairs and built a 2 bedroom suite for them, she was pregnant, and charged $700.
Both kids stayed until they could afford to buy their own homes, I loved having both kids around all the time, now we only see them on weekends or family dinners, I think it is awesome to be there for your kids, family.
