Unless Sven is playing 3rd line? |

No of course not. I considered putting Bae on the 3rd line as well, could see him earning that spot. |

Remember when most people were thinking 3-3.5? Looks like everyone was wrong on this one. - Retinalz
Well Vantel got into with me about Virtanen and Gaudette but in fairness that was pre-covid assumptions, I think JV would have been closer to 3mil if no virus and full season played out. |

I believe I said it would be in the 2.5-3 range - NorthNuck
Me too, but I also said close to three million if he goes to arbitration wouldn’t be surprising. |

I suspect he’ll give it one last go which will result in another head episode, it’ll convince him to call it quits. |

I remember myself and 1 or 2 others saying 2.5-3 would make sense and Vantel posting for half a page about how ridiculous it was that everyone thinks Jake is gonna make 3mil and he wouldn't pay him more than 1.5 |

I really hope for his sake he doesn't permanently (frank) up his life trying to come back yet again. |

With Virtanen signing, the #Canucks will have a 48-hour period to decide if they want to buy out Brandon Sutter, starting in three days. |

There’s a reason he doesn’t post here anymore, because he’s an idiot, the guy has the worst small man syndrome I’ve ever seen in my life
Now, I’m an idiot too, but at least I can get along with people...occasionally anyways |

Apparently, according to Chris Faber - things didn't end well between Sven and Green when he decided to opt out of the return to play bcus he had been skating with the team right before summer training camp but was "informed" he wouldn't be on the bubble squad. Plus the fact he' cleared waivers twice and has been asking for a trade since last year AND JB publicly said something like "we're not asking for much in a trade" and that "he's a soft skill and we have evolved to hard skill" - the chances of him ever playing again for the Canucks are less than zero. |

“For Sutter, this means his cap hit would drop from $4.375 million to $2.042 million next season. The catch is that instead of being done with Sutter’s contract forever after next season, the Canucks would add $1.167 million of dead money on their books for the 2021-22 season — a year in which they need to give big raises to Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes.
But given the options available to the Canucks at this point, buying out Sutter may still be the most palatable.”
—————————————————————-
The only real buyout option is Sutter. If Ferland does go on LTIR you have to be right up against the cap to get the full 3.5 million savings. |

If 10 Brendan Gaunces are what you want then good on ya I guess. Good luck making the PO's with that. There has to be some balance. If you want a 'step back' philosophy that's certainly the way to do it. - LordHumungous
You don’t get it, it’s OK, I’ll learn you. Because of the missteps 10 Brendan Gaunces is all the team can afford now. The current bottom 10 forwards all all replacement level or just slightly above but they (almost) all make top six money. None of the minions are “happy“ Benning got great value in Gauds or Jay-C. We recognize them for what they are, the scraps needed to fill out the roster because that’s the best the team can do at this point. |

I'm starting to get behind the idea of Gaudette on the wing, I think he's got better offensive instincts than JV and will actually throw a hit.

Play himself into a trade? That's the only thing I could think of. He's not raising his value in Utica at all, so if he's able to play on the team that would either showcase him to a team for a trade, or possible showcase him enough to earn him a contract next year.
He can hate them all he wants, but the smart move would be to put that aside and play his ass off to earn a roster spot. |

I doubt Sutter is bought out, I think they realize they need that cap for next year. They've also had two of their leadership move out this year and as much as I've slagged on Sutter over the years I think he is well respected in the locker room. |

His agent said..
“We’re going to make sure we’re dialled in on whether Micheal is fit to play or not. We can’t keep doing this,” Davidson said.
“That’s a conversation I know I’m going to have with Jim,” he said. “I guess we’ll see what makes the most sense for Micheal and the Canucks.”
Basically leaving the door open for a return, though not seeming super confident in it. |
