Third liner at best....another Delorme bust
- Pacificgem

I wouldn’t read too much into it. KHL teams are notorious for scratching and limiting young players ice time to try to force them to sign extension..... seems pretty obvious that’s what SKA is doing.

Only one player drafted out of the KHL in 1st round has played more games in their d+1 season since 2017
- belcherbd

He wasnt a top 10 and only played 4 less games if you count playoffs.

Yes, I was being somewhat facetious, however, don’t kid yourself, if he was able to help them win he’d definitely be playing. There is a bit of KHL versus NHL going on without question though.

In a weird plot twist, it seems like the agent is more interested in the player’s health than the player himself is lol.

I think Benning should approach Ferland and ask him what he’s leaning toward, if he’s leaning toward giving up on returning then great. If he still wants to give it one more shot for some reason, reach a compromise where he returns halfway through the season if he passes all tests and contact in practice. And if he ends up changing his mind by then, and choosing to hang em up at that point, that’s even better.

- Nucker101

👍🏻 Sounds like the plan. Good on his agent

He cleared waivers twice after sustaining a season ending concussion. If hypothetically he comes back and puts up 15 goals, you don't think some team would trade for him at the TDL or give him a 1 year contract the following year?
- NewYorkNuck

Thats not accurate - he had 2 concussions during the 18-19 season but had a few set backs during his recovery/attempt to return. He did come back healthy and played the last 4 games in late March/April. He's been healthy ever since and his two waiver passes were during this covid season.

So he actually is ready for top 6 duty in the NHL?

So you are saying a team hit hard by covid is not playing their best available roster because they are pushing for a Podz extension? You're saying this is obvious in spite of his horrible production?

You don’t get it, it’s OK, I’ll learn you. Because of the missteps 10 Brendan Gaunces is all the team can afford now. The current bottom 10 forwards all all replacement level or just slightly above but they (almost) all make top six money. None of the minions are “happy“ Benning got great value in Gauds or Jay-C. We recognize them for what they are, the scraps needed to fill out the roster because that’s the best the team can do at this point.
- 1970vintage

lol all I'm saying is be careful what you wish for. All teams have 2-3 bad contracts they want out. Regardless of 'bad contracts' we were a better team in the PO's with Myers, Beagle and Sutter dressed. If the cohorts want to constantly whine about it for another 5 years...believe me I get it lol

Don't get me wrong there are gems like Motte but rounding out your bottom 6 with 6 Motte's ain't happening. If you want 3 Gaunces and 3 Nick Dowds to round out our bottom 6 great...just expect to circle the drain.

1-2 more years of Beagle/Sutter won't hurt us and we need that experience/leadership especially if the PO's come next year. This 'step back' you talk about isn't the direction the team wants to go I guarantee you that. Pettersson/Hughes are emerging. With Players like that you move forward...not backwards.

Changing the goalposts ?

I'm just giving you a hard time for trying to use a obscure stat to make your point. I would of hoped Podkolzin was showing better finish but the KHL is weird and we really won't know what he is until he makes it over. I still like the pick, Newhook and Krebs were my preference but I also thought Podzolkin wouldn't be available.

I really hope for his sake he doesn't permanently (frank) up his life trying to come back yet again.

It’s too bad he couldn’t stay healthy. Would’ve been a good alpha mentor, he’s out hunting while Sutter and Beagle play Mario Kart

Compared to who? Do you honestly think that 13M couldn't of brought in more significant players?

The Myers contract is tricky because they were desperate and the market was thin but no one honestly looked at those Sutter and Beagle contracts when they were signed and thought they were good value.

So because of the way Jakes contract is structured, in 2 years as an RFA the required qualifying offer will need to be 3.4mil, I guess if he doesn't stick to the upward trajectory he won't be a Canuck at that point.

Myers was what Myers was he was coming off two good years in WPG and got market value for his numbers. Schmidt is a 6mil dman and a 35 point guy like Myers it is what it is. Dman were a small commodity and many were overpaid.

Sutter seemed ok at the time in the Kesler crap just unfortunate his injuries held him back. His time in PIT and PO's looked like it was a good acquisition. I for one liked his PK in the PO's and looked great up/down the 3-4 lines. For right now I'd rather have that than a 'value player' making 1 mil with little to no experience.

Beagle's contract overshadows his impact as player. Brought in after a cup win yes and Benning wanted those intangibles here. Many Capitals players said there is no way they win that cup without Beagle. Say what you want about him now yes he is slower but still brings impact in Po's like we saw especailly with Face off's at 67%

Sure they are 'better ways' to spend 13 mil but much of it is a craps shoot. We could have ended up with 3 worse players who knows. But their impact in the PO's was apparent to me and 1 more year of Beagle Sutter won't hurt us. They are leaving soon..so may as well get something out of their 10+ years of NHL experiences.
