Sean do you think Klefbom's injury is career threatening if there is no ETA on when he will play again? |

I do believe there is at least a possibility that it is which in and of itself is concerning. I've spoken with a few people with ties to the organization that have expressed their own concerns that the fact that Klef has not had a surgery yet means there is no timeline. |

Oilers have signed Kris Russell to a one-year extension. I'm hearing it is between $1m-$1.5m and no NMC. Makes sense for both sides. Ensure Oilers have a Dman eligible to be exposed in expansion draft and Russell knows he is either in EDM or SEA. |

Is this for real? He is the kind of player who would get the league minimum on the open market this year and probably next, and Holland is extending him to 1.5. And if new deal has a NMC, don't the Oilers need his permission to expose him to Seattle. What the living F!!! |

there is no no movement clause ..they are free to trade him or expose him

Thanks. A little slow today. If Seattle doesn't select him, it's hilarious to think Russell will be with this group for another season! But hey, at least it's not 4 million on the cap, I suppose.

I think you need to check what NMC means. It does not allow them to trade or expose him. It's one of the absolutes of the expansion draft. Same for Lucic. Saying that, they can ask him to waive his NTC to be allowed to expose (or trade) him.

It seems you also need to read what you responded to again, but slowly this time. That or go read when Russell's current contract expires. |

Klefbom must be really (frank)ed up. No other explanation. |

As I've been saying for a couple years now: Nurse > Klefbom
Sucks for Klefbom and the Oilers as a team, but this is part of why I've been in favour of moving on from Klefbom. Unfortunately, it would appear that such a path is no longer an option. |

Even if he had a nmc this is incorrect teams are given a deadline to ask players with nmc to waive for purpose of exposing for the entry draft. It happened in 2017 for the Vegas entry draft. So if a player is cool with his team, doesn't expect to get picked, or doesn't mind going to Seattle they can waive, totally up to the player. Ottawa asked Phaneuf to waive for the Vegas draft and he said no. |

I can't believe that you consider yourself a hockey expert. If he wasn't a good dman he wouldn't be there, but maybe you're just so much smarter than the Oilers management. |

Have you watched Russell play at all during the past 5 years? He had a couple of good years in Calgary, but since then he's been awful. You can tell he's not good by watching him play, and the fancy stats say he's worse than he looks. He's a nice guy, he tries hard, and teammates like him. That's about it.
Bad hockey players get contracts all the time, or do you also think Jack Johnson is a good hockey player? |

Because no GM has ever signed a player to a bad deal before...

Gonna have to disagree to some extent.
I think his reputation precedes him and is used by many to smear him as some Jack Johnson level of atrocious. He's well removed from that level of bad and has rather consistently shown a propensity for outperforming xGF% and keeping relGF% rates close under some rather difficult conditions. His style and lack of offensive skill certainly negatively impact on-ice offense a whole lot but, unlike the true trash tier of Dman, his unorthodox style generally leads to fewer GA to the point where he generally keeps his head above team average in goal share.
He has always been misused when used as a top-4 Dman but even when misused, he contributed to keeping things closer than many Dmen would in the same position. |

You really think Hunkasheit deserved such a well thought out response? He’s a Troll, and not a very bright one. |

Have you heard any inkling as to the severity of Klefbom’s injury? Today I heard it hinted that it might be career ending. Is that purely hyperbole, or...? |
