If you could ditch a contract which would it be? Girgs, Okposo, Skinner - GilPerreault11
Why can't they do what smart teams do and figure out a way to ditch 2 or even all 3?

Skinner without hesitation, Okposo brings diversity to PSE he’s a keeper.
What everyone fails to realize now is Girgs doesn’t have to drive to Pitt every night to taste some WAP. That lady is comfy in some suburban $500k house in the 716 waiting to play wife for him.
Kid is just a stinky Latvian (works his balls off, neck down type) that wants stability - Kougar club provides that. I’m expecting 16g, 18a if they play a full season.
Less long lonely drives more time in a better environment means success. |

Skinner is going to be your twice as heavy and longer Okposo contract when you see that light.

Here are the 100 disclaimers, with the bold for what I was responding to, but I was told that was not the topic at hand...
I suppose. I know they love him unconditionally. I think you get him the right partner and you're on your way. Shed Montour or Miller for an LD that has a transition game. Hanifin or Valimaki.
Kinda tough seeing Montour on the block after a fresh 1 year deal, though. And we know Ralph doesn't like Miller.
Just trying to read the leaves. - kingcong39
Thought I clarified it the first time, but I will again.
You're stuck with him. He's staying. So your options are find him a partner that makes him more efficient, or don't. That's my point.
And no, that wasn't my only post on the matter. |

There's definitely an argument for Skinner, but I think he's going to be highly useful over the next 4-5 years when we should be good. Okposo's remaining 3 years being gone means I could re-sign Hall easily and still have Skinner. He had a horrible year but i think will bounce back in a major way.
Basically I'd take care of the immediate waste of money |

Been buying since the season ended, this is going to be a hell of a bounce back year for Skins. Get ready.

We'll see but in two years I predict every trade you propose on here will have a Skinner dump just as you now have an Okposo dump.

Skinner's gonna be Skinner for several more years. Don't think I'll be wrong, but if I am, take this $5 coupon to Bennigans.

I've seen Skinner for the last 100 games and since he won't be on a Drew Stafford half a contract year like he was when he scored 40 but collapsed in Feb and hasn't been the same since I'll go with that.

Skinner has 258 goals over 720 games
or .35 goals per game
Girgensons is at 61 over 469 games
or .13 goals per game.
You're right, Skinner scores goals at almost 3x the rate Girgensons does, not 4. - sbroads24
Thank you.
Let's do the last 100 games as a sabre for both guys?
Seems more realistic, same team , same surrounding cast? |

Why not the last two full seasons? Or does that not fit your narrative?

Skinner was skinner last year am I not mistaken?
14 goals ?
Skinner is the single worst unmovable, untradeable contract in the nhl
He Was irrelevant on the ice and score sheet last season
Almost like he took his overpriced contract and slowed down. |

He wants to compare Girgensons to Skinner post his ankle injury in early 2019. Not the entire season. He’s just manipulating the data in his favor. |

So what? 100 games 2 seasons/ STILL WRONG
52 goals for skinner
19 goals for girgs
Basically 1/3 goal production. Oh, gurgs didnt play with eichel.
So 4 x 19 = 76 goals ? That is skinners expectation?
That doesn't fit your narrative or broads or tacos.

53 goals 86 points last two seasons
Versus 37 points last two seasons for Girgensons.
Skinner didn’t play with Eichel for 59 games either instead he had Sobotka and Mojo to carry.

Do certain players play better under different coaches and systems?
Ralph liked the way girgs played in his system and paid the guy accordingly.
Girgs has been glued to Larsson similiar to sammie and eichel. He has been handicapped by linemates ( and probably handicapped a few teammates himself)
I think most smart gms take a whole career into consideration, but if the coach likes the player and sees him as a borderline 3rd liner for 2.2 ? Seems reasonable?

I dont care how you manipulate the #'s. Do whatever you want?
Skinner is not 4x the point producer or goal scorer, but he's making 4x + as much.
That is the argument, and you are failing to prove anything other than my point |

My point is that he's played under 6 coaches and has pretty much been the same player under all of them.
I don't like the idea that he's been held back in any way. He's had every opportunity to move up in the lineup and benefits from more minutes than you'd really like to give him.

A. Hall is a LW, Reinhart is a RW
B. They signed him to a 1 year deal, where he can walk if things do not go well.
C. What exactkly is Ralph's "vision" and do you have any quotes or links to back up that vision or just pure speculation because they made a boneheaded decision on Girgensons? - sbroads24
Lucky it's a short season because lately the sabres start the season very well but then go off a cliff
Getting into the playoffs and playing well could convince hall to stay
If not or not in the playoffs hunt then he is a trade chip |

I guess I’ll repeat it for the 134,213th time.
Everyone on the planet agrees Skinner is overpaid.
You’re new buddy Taylor Hall had 4 more goals than Girgensons last year. A few *less* than Sam Reinhart.
He makes 8 mil. What gives? He should be tripling Girgensons numbers are least |

Big difference...Skinner was signed by Botts to produce offence and Girgs was signed by KA/Kruegs to bring energy, kill penalties and shut down other teams producers.
I don't care if people think they overpaid for Girgs, honestly the discussion is old. They signed him before free agency opened before they knew what the market looked like, maybe they wanted him more than Girgs wanted to stay. I don't know and neither do you. They wanted to keep him, they got what they wanted. You can try to compare point toals or whatever between Skinner and Girgs but you are wasting your time. Girgs has one roll as Krueger sees it and Skinner, who was signed by Botts, has a very different one. They made a decision, they got the guy they were comfortable with. He cost what he cost, period. There was no overpaying, they paid what they felt they had to in order to keep said player. There was no guarantee they could have gotten some other player they really liked in free agency for any cheaper. |
