Part of me says "mob rule wins again".
However, I stand by my argument. If the Coyotes did their homework, and felt they could succeed despite the situation, I wasn't going to crucify them for drafting the kid. If they found out more about the incident afterwards, and felt the need to walk away, then I don't hold that against them either. I just hope it's that and not just "oh no, the Twitter mob is mad at us, we need to reverse course!" - buffalofan19
Great you stand by your arguement, no really big surprise. You were wrong. Cutting him today is the right thing to do. Aside from Arizona doing the proper research in the first place.

40% of the society loses. Speak for yourselves.
This isn't even cancel culture . This was common sense.
The kid showed no remorse.
Everyone makes mistakes, glad arizona showed remorse and fixed the problem at hand.
If he signs with the Sabres, maybe he picks 19? You can support him by purchasing and wearing his jersey to the games. Give him a second chance? |

what Miller did was beyond bad
but he was 14
we have athletes in all sports that have done far worse when they were adults and got second chances
the yotes had their right to walk away from Miller and decided to do that
Miller however does have a right to a second chance if a team wants to take a chance on him
hopefully this negative from 4 years ago, when he was 14, can now be turned into a positive at some level

Everyone makes mistakes. A simple apology would have gone a long way. Adults in court apologize to their victims.
Bullied and abused a mentality challenged child ?
From 2nd grade until 8th grade. And then most likely taunted him in 10th grade.
6-8 years of abuse and you want to give him a 2nd chance already? Seems like he should wait some time, show some remorse and apologize. |

Karem Hunt is back in the NFL and he is on video attacking a woman....
That being said I’ve read some more about this and it seems like this kid hasn’t shown remorse only remorse he got caught...according to the victims mother at least. She wrote a letter saying as much and that the other person involved in the bullying has apologized and shown remorse, and the victim and his family forgave that participant but not Miller.
To me this sounds like a kid gets caught and his rich mommy and daddy bail him out of trouble and he never learned.
However IF he would have apologized and shown remorse this could be a much different story. |

On the flip side, though, there are two possibilities:
1. The AZ Republic article brought to light other facts in the situation that the Coyotes didn't know about.
2. The Arizona Coyotes simply cowered to the mob.
If it's #1, they're justified in cutting ties. You can call into question the competence of the people doing the due diligence, but I'm not a Coyotes fan, and ultimately it's not my problem. While I agree that kids should get 2nd chances, they're not guaranteed them, and if they are given 2nd chances, they don't necessarily have to be in the same line of work.
If it's #2, then I have a problem. If you made your decision, knowing all these facts, believing you can make good out of it, then stand by it. Don't do a 180 because someone wrote an article making your PR department scared of a bunch of keyboard warriors.

Tampa did not get over the hump until they had a defensive play and goaltending that kept up with their offensive firepower.
Dallas went to the Stanley Cup finals and scored less goals than the Sabres did this past season
We need to be able to defend regardless of how many goals we score up front. - Pegullaville
Well, technically yes.
If you watched that team at all during the playoffs, most observers would say
- Point and Kucherov upped their respective games..they were absolute beasts
-Palat played great with them...added so much to that line with grit and determination and scored some key goals by aggressively sticking his face in the dirty areas
- The line of Gourde, Goodrow and Coleman were phenomenal in playing a physical high energy game that did an exceptional job of setting the tone for the games...they normally started and ended each period
- Hedman was simply outstanding at both ends of the ice..scoring killer goals and back checking g shutting it down defensively and transitioning to the Offense with speed.
That said, yes their D like Sergy Shatty, and even Bogo
all played very well and Vasi cleaned up on most of the errors.
Don't underestimate the impact of Gourde, Goodrow and Coleman...that line, along with Paquette and Maroon gave the team the confidence to stand tall when the game got physical. It can't be said enough.

Apart from drinking, smoking dope, and the occasional devils powder I’ve done nothing.
At 25 I hardly do any of those three things anymore.
I was a mommas boy who got A’s in high school went off to university and work my bank job.
Played for my highschool hockey and football teams as well as the rep hockey and football teams in my area.
At the age of 14 I wanted to be a sports agent and go to law school and consumed myself with my sports addiction that has led me to this message board in the first place. Now obviously that didn’t happen but I was well aware of what’s right and wrong and physically/emotionally abusing somebody was not one of those things.
That kid deserves everything he’s getting. |

I'm guessing you've overcame some obstacles in life?
Nothing wrong with it... in most cases.
Should a rapist get a second chance to live next store to your sister? Should we let the internet mob decide?
2nd changes need to be earned not given. And certainly. Some people never earn a second chance.
Kid did this from 2nd -8th grade and possibly again was taunting him again in 10th grade? 6 -8 years worth.
No remorse, but GIVE, not let him earn that 2nd chance right?
But, cancel culture is what really gets you upset, not pissing on a lollipop and tricking someone handicapped into eating it.

kid would not be remotely ready for nhl anytime soon
the yotes had the right to let him go, just like they had the rights to help him learn from this horrible thing and turn it into a positive, which is the way I would have gone
so much positives could have come out of this, and they decided to go the easy path
a simple conversation, and leading to perhaps a public apology and perhaps a poster boy to help advocate ways to stop being a bully |

The lightning have possibly 2 of the top 5 defensive Center man in the NHL in Point and Cirelli.
Hedman is the best d-man in the NHL
Vasilesky was incredible in the playoffs.
Fact of that matter is, run and gun works in the regular season but to win in the playoffs you need to win the 2-1 and 3-2 hockey games.
Ask Toronto, Florida, and Edmonton how effective scoring at will in the regular season works out when you go up against a defensive hockey club that shuts you down and out scores your putrid defence. |

👍this is more reasonable. Before you were standing by your statements.
If it were the a 180 senario, what should have Arizona told the season ticket holders who may have wanted to cancel?
Were gonna stand pat, and take the financial hit, because we dont want our pr department to be shamed? |

I could predict the people on here who would stand up for the kid who bullied and abused the Black and cognitively disabled kid. Like clockwork. |
