I think skinner had 14 goals last season and made $9 million? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

1 time 40 goal scorer who put up 29 in the 1st 40 games of the season and only 25 more in the next 100 games?

*these are just guesstimates?

But seems like the expectation should be closer to . 25 gpg than .5 gpg?

We already know that the coach didnt use skinner in ot or the pp1 last season. Now they just signed a better lw1 who signed to play with eichel.

Flipping him to 1rw? 40 goals? How many pucks are they using?

Eventually everyone finds a common ground. I agree with you here.

Botterill had a chance to lock up Skinner sooner rather then later but he waiting and as soon as Mark Stone signed, Botterill was screwed, he had no out.
- SABRES 89

Then Skinner was a flat out liar when he told the media he wasn’t going to talk extension until the end of the season. He also knew Housley was gone and wanted to see who the coach was

I don’t think there was much of a chance

God, fate, the universe, etc.

On paper it's the best roster since 2011 which means a little more than absolutely nothing

And it can go straight back to abysmal if Hall and Staal stay for exactly one year and Cozens isn’t fantastic immediately

Then we can use that cap space to bring in further reinforcements, cross that bridge when we get there

I was part of the "cant let skinner walk no matter what" group. They had to pay him, for the fanbases sake.

Still a very unfavorable deal moving forward.
Hopefully he hits goals in the low to mid 30's consistently.

At least financially.

Hopefully Mitts is going to take his hockey career seriously. That's where vets like Staal and Hall come in. Teach these kids.

- Powerslave

THIS ! All day long.

The kids on this roster haven’t had a pro that actually produced that they could learn from.

Staal and Hall will be huge as long as they stay healthy.

And Girgensons.

Someone will blame his signing, I guarantee it.

- Powerslave

Some will bring up the asset management, letting ka-boo-hoo-hun go ......

Should have qualified the guy for 3 millionish

Nobody wants him 🛎 apparently

🤝

No hard feeling on the facepunchers front. (Hopefully)

I would love a team of facepunchers, but will settle for some try hard, earn your paycheck plumbers to mix in with high end talent.

I think they are finally going that route under this management team?

It sure looks like the Sabre's have very strong forward lines that should make the playoffs this season. If they don't who will Eichel blame then.

Great blog mike : 👍

Any chance mekar has a shot this year at making the big squad?

Where does he play (and players like him) , if the ahl isn't operating?

No time to post the 4th line? 🤔

0% out of %100 or %1,000?

He looked ready.

I'm not locking in tage or Casey or even cozens for roster spots. Never know?

If you all recall, when skinner kept scoring, err well the top line kept scoring and no other line did consistently, they moved skinner to another line to try and spread out the scoring! You have him with better players who can actually pass him the puck he would produce more. That’s on the coaches for taking him off of eichel’s wing and leaving the snail with eichel to semi produce. Take Reinhardt off eichels wing and put skinner back with eichel and we wouldn’t have 1- a “overpayment of skinner as he’d still be producing 2- a restricted fa in Reinhardt looking for a boat load of money made for him by eichel.

Jack, Sam, Olofsson, Skinner, Staal, Hall, Okposo, Girgs, Eakin, Rieder....
that’s 10/13 on the roster for sure, right?

I think it’s safe to say Lazar seems like the most likely 13th
So that’s now 11/13

For Pekar to make it, he’s competing with the guys u mentioned:
Cozens, Tage & Mitts, plus Asplund & Ruotsalainen

For Pekar to even have a chance to make the roster,
4 of those guys would have to look bad,
and he would have to look really good

Now that’s unlikely

But what really takes it down to ZERO for me....
is that he’s so far down the depth chart to start,
he’ll barely even get a look in what will most likely be a shortened camp with less preseason games than normal

That doesn’t mean he can’t play well in Rochester & get called up at some point though

And where were u watching Pekar play that “he looked ready”?
And how many games did u see him play?

Cozens shouldnt be up, but most likely will be. Tage at 1.4 for 3 years is locking up his spot in the NHL.

The Blackhawks sent out a public letter to their fans telling them they were rebuilding

You then criticized a poster for saying the Hawks were rebuilding

You should probably sit the next few plays out when it comes to correcting anyone.

I don’t see complaining. It’s absolutely a concern. It’s possible to look big picture and not just one season.

Sure the Sabres can make the playoffs and maybe even win a playoff round, but what happens if Staal wants to play closer to home or just retire?

What happens when Hall puts up 85 points and the Sabres can’t pay him?

Like it’s cool to be happy with Hall. But also be wondering what happens after one season?

It’s almost like the Pegulas want to distract the fan base for a year and worry about the rest later. That’s not a smart way to build a team especially a team like Buffalo that has some pretty glaring needs.
