It’s hilarious actually that the one guy who got term is by far the worst player.

Ralph Krueger’s personal relationship with Taylor Hall has saved this from being a very, very disappointing offseason

- sbroads24

Funny thing is, there could still be moves to be had, there's still good players available in FA and there are still teams that will have to move players to get cap compliant. Just because Rhino signed doesn't mean he doesn't get moved, I mean I doubt it, but it still could be very interesting for a couple more months

or if they just want to leave

the amount of work they have to do next summer is just insane

- Lunaion

It’s poor management. They’re setting themselves up to overpay a few guys they should’ve locked up long term now.

And before people say the market or covid( they are factors) there’s been plenty of RFA’s signing long term deals

Ullmark 2.6 but I buy the other two. Maybe Olo 3.75

There still could be. But until they happen this is what we’re looking at.

I’m good. I’m not going to pretend the dumb things they do are good though because Taylor Hall.

The list of FA’s they have in a year from now is daunting

I mean, we get it. We see the good poop, and we see the poopty poop. I just don't want to feel like poop because they act like poop.

They'll tackle contracts next year, like every team does every year. And we'll just hope they're smart, or capable about it. At least they didn't send one of their best players into an arbitration hearing. That coulda happened.

I feel fine about it. I don’t expect any different

They’re a poorly ran team. They need to strike lightning at some point

Jesus Christ dude you’re heading into Fitz territory.

No ones depressed about it, I’m discussing it.

Stop telling people what they should be feeling or talking about

The team got a 2C, 1LW, PK help and signed one brutal, low money contract. They have work to do to decide the defense, but beyond that, this is a better team. Other teams can no longer focus on Eichel. There's more power, real power, everywhere.

It's a nice place to be.

Feels like they are playing a really dangerous game avoiding any commitment, except where absolutely necessary (Girgensons).
- Lunaion

Get through the covid inspired flat cap and flexibility around the expansion draft. I don’t think it’s dangerous. They MIGHT lose someone to the “wink and nod agreement” of we will sign you after the expansion draft. But it might be worth the flexibility...

Knew that was coming. Take a step back. Not telling you how to feel. Not telling you what to write. But you seem to come in here daily with the same story. Just wish you'd lighten up, honestly. Write about whatever you want. That's why we're here.

Models project them at 85 points. Plan that parade man.

And before you slam analytics or the projections, they’ve been bang on for the Sabres for years

I honestly think the players are driving short contracts as much as the teams are. I think they're banking on more money being available a year from now.

No one knows what the financials will be for the league next year. Things could be a lot different. Who knows if we'll be looking at big players with short deals again.

All I know is next year, you're either trading Reinhart or signing him for a long time.

I didn't think I was one to 'slam analytics'

I may be the only other guy in here who appreciates Jeff Skinner's on ice impact as much as you do. Come on now.

You’re assuming I’m depressed because I think they’re morons. I’m not at all. I’m actually kinda depressed that the 5-2 Buffalo team seem like pretenders, and they’re like a lock to make the playoffs

The Sabres philosophy didn’t change this offseason.

They handled contracts poorly

They handled the draft poorly

They kept the same bad goalies and D men.

When those things change. So will my tune on them

Yes it could come back to haunt them, especially if all these guys play up to there potential. We shall see.
- Buff36

Only in Buffalo would we complain about guys playing up to their potential. Jesus Christ.

Ok fair enough.

There’s a few simple moves, that can take that projection to around 90 points.

One of them is doing anything about Hutton and getting a decent caliber goalie here with Ullmark.

Another is getting Ristolainen off the team so the coach doesn’t play him 20+ minutes

Those were 2 of the 3 top moves they needed to make if we all made a list going into the offseason

1. Goalie
2. 2C
3. Trading a D man

Is that not accurate?
