Best example I can think of is not this season but the one before, Tampa has an all time regular season and then gets swept in the first round. St. Louis was the worst team in the league on January 1st and goes on the win the Cup. Who is the "better" team?

I am of the opinion that the Habs are more assembled like a playoff team (if they make it of coz) , look at their roster particularly in the back end , typical of STL and TB from the past 2 seasons. They have the pieces and guys with cup experience . My concern is how well CJ changes on the fly and roll his lines during the playoffs which will very well dictate how far they go and of coz how Suzuki and KK progress

I think it comes down to saying that the concept itself of identifying the "better team" might be a tad simplistic, and there's a lot of nuances that aren't being considered when doing so
