Unless Rocky wants to wait 10 years, I highly doubt, 10 is a placeholder, 7,8,15 whatever, the Hawks will be supplementing the young emerging players they have with FA's when Toews, Kane and Keith are gone. The Cubs brought in 4-5 young players and then went big on Lester and Heyward. They did get lucky with a few trades for pitching (Arrieta and Hendricks). We have an overabundance of D-Man prospects hopefully they can be flipped into something else good? Stan or whomever is going to need some luck. - rpeters01
At the moment it is looking like 10yrs lol. You may be right about an FA or 2 if we have the cap. I'm all for supplementing the young guys when they're ready. I just don't see how this thing is gonna work by keeping 88 and 19. Definitely not 2 and 7. We'll forever be grateful for all four but keeping them stunts moving on. Can't wait to see some moves and how it shakes out. I'm not going anywhere but unless something drastic happens this could be a LONG rebuild |

Didn't the Cubs sign players to 1 year contracts like the Hawks did and flip them for a ton of prospects since you can't trade draft picks

It really doesn't since most of the players will be young and on ELCs.

So is your plan to ride out 88 and 19 for 3 more yrs til they're 34 and 35 then dach and debrincat are going to be our top players? In the meantime we'll miraculously find 4 other top 6 players ready for top roles by then? Kubalik, sure, who else? And we're banking on some form of boqvist, Mitchell, etc to be our top pair by then? That's very optimistic. I'd love it if those guys are currently in our pipeline but I doubt they'll all pan out. I don't see it unless trades are made and we are bad enough to get top 5 picks. |

I think that of all the veterans Kane should not be viewed in the same light as far as age considerations. In my opinion he has maybe 8 more years of playing at his current level . Based on this his age should b considered as a player around 25 years old.
Kane is the player Toews should be handing the leadership role too. All other veterans should be traded since the Hawks will not be competing untill they are past their prime.
As for the youth movement it is my personnel experience that if the talent is there for a player and they are physically mature enough to compete do it in the NHL. Talented players get better by playing against other talented players. Talent determines how good they will be. Put what you think are your talented players in the NHL and you will quickly know who is worth keeping |

Ok trying hard to not jump in and offer advice...
I gotta tell you my Schitt's creek story:
Last night my wife and I turned on the netflix finale season and we both looked at each other and said were saw this and all of them...we know it was early in the year (it would have to be in April) and didn't didn't watch them one at a time, we powered through them as a group in 3 days maybe...We REMEMBER and was SURE it was a in a Netflix Cue type thingeee...We don't think it was on regular cable and friend said maybe we watch on Hulu...I almost called Netflix (waiting form a week day, lol) and was gonna make a ridiculous call and ask, Did I somehow get the Netflix feed of Schitt's creek earlier than everyone, a goofy call to begin with!
We just want to know where we watched them.
I guess we Arte now officially home too long.
I have one of the top 100 investment firms...my hockey boy neighbor also invests peoples $ for a living. Both say no matter who is President there will be taxes to rest things. By and large the big boys who haven't paid tax in scores of years will be handed the burden.
I have never had an issue with paying taxes as long as the benefit the ones in need, and don't subscribe to that idea that "I want my money to spend it and help those I want to help. There are far too many things needed to get done, two I have no problem paying even though I am not in that $400,000 bracket the rest of you are in... - wiz1901
Funny how this is the new barometer for people supposedly gaming the system. Used to be millionaires and billionaires.
Still need to check out Schlitt's Creek. Love the old SCTV crew.

Wasn’t that a great ending for the Rays in Arlington last night?
After 6 home runs, 20 Ks - a single with two on was the most exciting play.
Baseball needs to look at that more closely....

I'm not counting on Nylander or Strome, but they're both still young enough to develop into top 6 players. Plus there's Reichel who was just drafted. You don't know what you have yet in Suter or possibly Kurashev, plus I wouldn't be surprised to see Kane playing at around the level we're accustomed to seeing.
Obviously all our prospects won't pan out but you have to hope the scouting is good enough where guys other than first rounders do.
Look at the Oliers. They have arguably the game's best player with another who is in the top 10 team picture. They have had how many top 5 picks and couldn't beat our team of lovable losers.
I was looking at the TB roster. They have 4 guys who were top 10 picks though really only two of them are what you'd call "Core" type players (Hedman and Stamkos).
Kind of like when the Hawks were winning Cups they are getting contributions from guys like Point (4th rd), Kucherov (2nd rd.), Palat (7th rd), etc... |

Well i don't see a point in eating a contract if you still have productive players. The same players who have SCs under their belts. Who are valuable mentors for the young kids coming in
I feel when you buy out a contract its like refinancing your home you are limiting your ability to use future money
And if you trade away Seabrook you'll probably have to retain half his salary and probably draft picks or crap coming back.
So you bite the bullet and start building. |

I want to be part of the herd immunity group, but hopefully by way of vaccination. As a healthcare professional, I hope to get it right when it becomes available.
And no, I'm not worried about the government tracking me, or any of the other conspiracy theories out there, since I know the trials and evidence that have to be done/proven before the FDA will allow it to be released to the public. |

3's are always wild with Pat Foley!
At least he got to see in his career that feat of a 3-3 tie at 13:33 in the 3rd. Just need to see the same thing but with 3:33 left on the clock. That would be a rarity.
I remember there used to be a Blackhawks prize drawing if a player scored at exactly the 10:00 mark in the 2nd and Marty Havlat pulled it off. - Theo Fox
Marty was one of my favorites to watch. He thought the game well and had such a finesse to his play. He and Keith always had offensive chemistry. |

Absolutely agree. I watched it until the end and it was great. The guy who got the winning hit was interviewed eventually and he reminded me of the naive player in Bull Durham who married the slut. |

Some of your “freedoms” negatively affect mine.
Your freedom not to wear masks, not to socially distance, not to gather in large crowds, not to jam bars without masks....
If everyone would wear masks, distance, not have large gatherings in parties or bars - we wouldn’t be back to normal by now - but we might be able to live without many of the restrictions that exist.
Just be responsible and respect all of our freedoms.
And stop calling those who disagree with you morons who should move to China. We are all US or Canadians here (with the odd European thrown in). We have as much freedom to express out ideas as you do.
And if you don’t like that.... |

IF the Wiz virus comes:
...and it is similar to the current cooties.
You quarantine to stop early spreading.
You set up instant tracing apps on phones that can be easily dropped when the Wiz virus is over.
We shut it down six weeks. STAY HOME. Then before opening, I have instant results tesing sites and all are tested in the next six weeks after we open everything back up.
If in the first three weeks there is a spike, shut down all but essentials.
Nice of me to decide I can handle the next pandemic.
The fact remains is like the flu, we are going to be round this one for more than another year or two.
Like all of you I wanna see my grandkids live, and want to be in a real new normal.
I just think that we aren't there yet, and Bettman is smart in his hesitations and good in his baby steps...they rest of us are getting tired of baby steps and want to let the guard down and the slippages inter-family are spreading the stuff now.
Here I am worried because my county had so many cases, but cook county have ten times a many...so many more popped close to each other...this isn't easy, but it is good to see we aren't arguing about it here. - wiz1901
I respect the fact that everyone has their own thoughts on how to handle, and which scientists to listen to.
I don't begrudge you or anyone else for feeling the way you each do.
The one thing I don't ever read here though, is the other effects of the conditions like the ones you would put on, and have been put on by some governors.
I'm not a scientist, I am a father though. I the area I live in, most of our friends have kids the same age as ours.
I can tell you unequivocally, that the effect this is having on kids and their education, and long term learning is devastating. Way more devastating than the virus ever would be. Abuse, physical, alcohol, and drugs, I've read stories that these are on a massive rise. I've also read that suicide hotlines are at being used at an all time high.
Because the mainstream media doesn't report any of these other conditions every 10 mins, (notice the main talking point now is cases not deaths) it just OK that these other tragedies are happening, even if its 5 times more damaging. Mostly because you don't have to hear about it. Unless of course it is happening to you personally.
Just my opinion, I'm entitled to it, just as you are with yours, and again, I respect your right to have your own opinion, or listen to the scientist you'd like to.
If anyone can pass on to me the scientific study showing a mask or a shield prevents a virus, it will be the first one I have seen, but I will read it with an open mind.
I wonder if I passed on the ones that prove it doesn't work, would it be read with same open mind by some here?
Off my soap box now, and will stick to hockey. |

Some people (not necessarily implying anyone here) still seem unable to grasp the concept that the mask is not intended to prevent the wearer from contracting the virus, but rather to prevent a Covid+ person from unknowingly spreading the virus to others.
Not wearing a mask makes a statement, but it’s not the statement most deniers think. It doesn’t say “I’m not concerned about contracting the virus”, it says “I don’t give a (frank) about you or anyone else”. |

Another early Stones appearance - on the TAMI (Teen Age Music International) Show, also from 1964.
How nice to see them - young and simplistic, without the distractions of the large stadium shows. Just the World’s Greatest Rock-N-Roll band.
