Exactly, which is why the Drs wear masks, to protect their patients. I'm pretty much over wearing masks, but I wear one everywhere I go anyway. If I'm asymptomatic and pass it on to an 80 year old who ends up dying, I'd have a hard time forgiving myself. I do think governors overstepped their roles, and think that much of their responses were politically motivated, but I'll still do whatever I can to help stop the spread.

It's going to be another long year

The only guy they traded big was Smardzja the rest were one year hope we get lucky moves which they did on I think Feldman for Arrieta. Ryan Dempster brought them Hendricks but everyone thought they lost that trade at the time.

They signed 8 or 9 guys to 1 year deals and traded them or included them in trades to bring 9 players to the team that would contribute to their championship over 4 to 5 years

My point is Wallmark, Janmark, maybe big Z, Carpenter, will all be dangled playoff deadline if they arent the plan going forward, draft picks, prospects or even eat a higher salary for the rest of the year so a team going for it can make some moves with picks or legit NHL prospect thrown into the deal

I'm a big Led Head too. They had as good a decade of excellence as any but sadly Bonham died and that was that.

Yeah, there was a lot of "fog" in my life back then too. I think I remember seeing them in 70/71 or there abouts - thought it was at the Aragon/Cheetah/Aragon but maybe it was at the Kinetic Playground - not sure. I also saw Tull when I didn't know them yet (pretty sure that was at the Aragon Ballroom) - I went there to see Savoy Brown and maybe Traffic - again, not sure - and Tull was an intro group. Also saw Tull at Northwestern University and I'm pretty sure I saw them at the old Amphitheater. I have a lot of foggy memories from my misspent yoot.

At least we both realize it's not 2-3 like most here will expect and are already counting three years ago as the start...

I thought I was the only one! Boy do I hope it's 3yrs but unless a few miracles happen it's looking like much longer. I'm not buying into the current narrative that "we're gonna do this with the core here and it's all gonna work out fine!". It's hard to move on from players we love but brace yourselves it's coming.

Fair enough, the way i look at it, i am trying to build something, when you're trying to build something, bake something, grow something, you can't skip any steps. You have to be methodical, usually it takes dmen longer to develop and they began drafting them in 2017 check, now they have a ton of young forwards check, drafted a goalie, check and I'm sure we'll see more come and go through the team.

I don't know if you remember what happened to the Chicago Bulls, but that was Jerry Krause's idea, trade any relevant playoff player away and tank. Problem became other players noticed and any relevant FAs never signed here for years.

So i keep the vets and really who's going to command big money from the young players right now, if you hit on a few stars then you can make some moves but for now no need to

Don't get me wrong, I'm on board with that. Do I want to trade away our best players? No I don't but looking at what we have and where we need to be in how long, the painful truth is nothing lasts forever and the prudent thing to do is to get the most you can for players who still have value. We can agree to disagree on that, it's ok. If we draft a guy here and they turn out to be a cornerstone in 3-5yrs, great. We need that to happen about 5 times so how long do you think that's gonna take? Could we luck into a nice low level trade? Sure. Could we find some mid level prospects that end up fitting our system perfectly and produce? Of course. It would be a heck of a lot quicker if we bit the bullet, traded kane or toews for a nice return, dropped a bunch of salary, and added some high end prospects and picks. We'd all love to see them retire hawks in 3yrs and we're a great team then also but it's a pipe dream. We likely can't have both. It's really about what's best for the team and not what we want in a perfect world.

You raise some good points. I agree with the concept of obtaining prospects that are farther along in development than draft picks who if they make it, are 3-4 years away.

I don't think the core will waive so there's no asset return from them. deHaan may get you a 3rd or 4th or a B prospect. I wouldn't be too optimistic on the return for Murphy. After all the consensus on this board was that at one time or another Gus, Lehner and Saad would return 1st rounders, but the GM'S around the league who are paid to evaluate talent thought otherwise. Who's left to trade Wallmark and Janmark? Maybe a 3rd rounder or two who have less than a 10% chance of making a NHL contribution, and if they do it's 4 years away.

Stan wants to weaponize cap space, probably more so next year when he has more space to play with. Hard to say what that concept will return.

Longs like a long rebuild to me unless 2, 19 and 88 waive. Seabs will cost assets to move which is the last thing the Hawks could afford to do

I agree with all your points, well said. One thing I'm getting a feel of here and its only just starting is a 'nudge' or 'tweaking' from mgmt to the core. If you read closely into 'the statement' and public interviews you may get a sense of it too. Mgmt is saying we want them here and be a part of the rebuild but imo its bracing us the fans and sending a message to the core. The only way this rebuild happens in less than 5yrs is for some or all of them to waive their clauses. Financially its imperative. They may say they're not looking to move any of the core but behind the scenes they know they have to. It's just delicate how they handle it with the players and the fans. It may take 'nudging or tweaking' these players to want to move on. Then if they do decide to waive the problem is getting a great return and a landing spot to move huge contracts in 19 or 88's case. For 7 it would be whatever, wherever, however, if even possible. You're correct that without the players waiving it's a mute point but I'm sensing mgmt is gently trying to push them towards that and bracing the fans for it. I could be very wrong but in the next yr one or more could be out the door.
