Agreed, highlighted area would be D-prospects for F-prospects and then a cheap young 4k could be useful. But as you said, that's the only way I see it happening unless deHaan and Murphy both go without Defense coming back which is also possible? - rpeters01
If de Haan and/or Murphy is shipped out -- even Keith for that matter if he requests a trade -- the goal would be to receive draft picks in return or prospects on ELCs or not yet signed. |

My lines if nothing changes until opening day just for poops and giggles:
Janmark towes kubalik
Nylander dach kane
Dcat strome suter/ shaw if healthy
Highmore wallmark Hagel
Kampf carpenter
Keith murphy
Zadorov/dehann boqvist
Zadorov/ dehann seabrook if healthy
Carlson
Subban
Delia
Option smith and shaw to LTRI
Capenter to the rock
Seabrook to ltri
Seeler and Mitchell become options on the blue line.
Its a decent roster a little more depth than last year. Imo there more moves coming another forward and d man in a trade or signing would not rule out koko coming back.

If Murphy, Zadorov, and Seabrook are all dressed, then I would like to see them all on different pairings. |

Barring any transactions, I think that's the 7 who is likely the set you start with. Reading between the lines, Seabrook is likely the 7th man.
Keith - Murphy
Zadorov - Boqvist
de Haan - Mitchell
Seabrook
Carlsson is next in line. |

Looks about right Theo. Still think Seabrook will be at odds with J.C. about playing time if he does returns and looks healthy could cause friction in the locker room. But if bowman and company are committed to youth seabs will just have bite the bullet. |

Rumors that the 2020-21 season could have realigned divisions with one for all Canadian teams. The Hawks would be in the same division as:
Blues
Predators
Wings
Jackets
Panthers
Lightning
Hurricanes
I like the Blues, Predators, and Wings. Jackets are fine.
The Florida and Carolina teams are weird from a geography standpoint (i.e. where's the Wild?) but actually wouldn't mind playing those teams more often. |

Just my gut feeling but the core is on board for now with the youth movement but Colliton's roster decisions including deployment of special teams could start to grind their gears over time.
If that happens, I would expect at least Keith and Seabrook to request to be traded.
While it's great that Bowman and Colliton have new-found confidence to run the team the way they think is the best direction, I think it has emboldened at least Colliton to say and do things that will just tick off the core.
I actually haven't minded at all what Bowman has publicly shared this week. Colliton is another story. For someone who is supposed to be a great communicator, his lack of tact is offputting. |

Playing a reduced and compressed schedule completely within the division?

Agree with the core being on board with the youth movement but this just opinion of mine but think the core 4 do not like J.C. very much i don't think they say that publicly to the press but i could see some subtle words and messages be throw around when the taking interviews after games as the season goes along. |

(frank)ing Pirri! That’s even worse.
I forgot he was here. (frank).

Michael Russo has a lengthy article in the Athletic speculating about the upcoming season.
Realigned divisions with Hawks in central with teams as mentioned by Theo. Probably 40 to 50 game season. All games likely within the division and played in "hub" cities. For the hub city, league is looking at cities with arenas with multiple locker rooms, hotels attached to or very near the arena, and with additional practice rinks nearby. Columbus seems to fit the bill for the central hub.
League has to come to agreement on all facets with the NHLPA.
Much more in the article. |

According to @frank_seravalli, it would cost NHL owners $2.7B to play next season, but they'd only bring in $1.8B - an almost $1B loss. Is it worth that to play?

Honestly, I always forget to factor in Pirri because I have written him off as a Rockford veteran presence and nothing more.
It wasn't until I actually took a look at Capfriendly when it reminded me he's still an option for the Hawks. I prefer he be a last resort.
When you said paper cut, I'm reminded of this Jacka$$ clip:

Yes - and I subsequently read the article.
You asked if it was worth it to play facing a $1B loss.
I go back again to NBC and the Canadian networks, who need sports programming in the Jan-Jun time period. And, with new contract negotiations comin up in the US, the league will try very hard to show that they are a good business partner. |

For clarification, the question of whether it's worth it to play if there's a $1B loss, that was by Frank Seravalli (not me). |
