Ryan Wilson: Favorite breakaway move, Penguins next GM, expansion draft, and more

I think Rutherford has made some solid moves lately. Would you guys prefer to have kept Murray on that 6.5M AAV cap hit? Doubt that. Getting a 2nd and a solid prospect for his signing rights seems like a great return. Especially in this bargain year for Tendy's.

Ditching Johnson and adding Matheson is an improvement. Kapanen is a great player who you can keep for a season, then trade 50% retained if you want to recoup the 1st rd pick you gave up for him. I thought that was a low risk trade when you consider their options with him going forward.

I like this team, especially if Letange can be healthy for playoffs. Jarry looks like a legit starter, and considering your goalie duo is cheaper the Mtl's backup goalie, you seem to have figured out this cap crunch quite nicely.

Fun post

3) Philly- Niskanen was fading, but without him the right side of that defense is very suspect. Well coached and deep everywhere else though so maybe they hold steady, but I could see them take a step back.

4) Isles- Toews loss is huge to me. Lost a couple depth guys in Brassard and Martin who played decent roles. They made a run, but I could easily see them not qualify.

5) CBJ will look very different. How much better depends on which version of Domi they get. Lost some depth at wing and defense, but I think they'll still be in the mix.

6) NYR-Lafreniere and Kakko could give them a major boost even though they lost Fast and added JJ. I think they'll play the kids and can compete for a playoff spot but all the dead cap space will keep them from addressing their holes. This team with cap space next summer will get scary.

- Tojo.

I definitely agree on most of this. The Isles will definitely take a hit. Philly IMO was just an ok team before this, so yeah, with taking steps back I see them regressing, but probably still being in the mix. If Laf is the real deal out of the gate and Kakko shows he's the player they thought, along with Shesh stepping in goal, they could fight for a spot.

I don't agree on CBJ. Even if they get a better version of Domi, I don't see this team doing much. I think CBJ finishes in the bottom three of the division.

Not really, just a bit time consuming. I love stews and braised meats. Definitely one of my favorite ways to cook meat.

These are one style I make. I love to cook, but baking is really my big thing. I know baking bread has become big during covid, but I've been doing it for years as well as all kinds of cookies, pies, pastries, etc...

That looks (frank)in good. Gooey inside.

Yeah check out that chicks Instagram. She ships cookies nationwide too and her flavors are bananalands. We’ve ordered like 3-4 different Instagram cookie companies and this chick is local and honestly hers have been the best.

I definitely will.

Thanks! Yeah, those cookies are really gooey. One of my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes. They're amazing warmed up with a scoop of ice cream.

Lol. That was a playoff game Geno did that in, and one to never forget. That was the biggest go (frank) yourselves goal. His best playoff goal is the spin-o-rama top cheese backhander against Carolina though. That slapper gotta be top 5 for Geno in the playoffs though haha.

Not going to speak for others, we did get a nice return for Murray. That is a plus, I like it.

I am a fan of Hornqvist so I am in the minority here. They did not get fair value for him. Matheson may turn out to be a nice addition but adding Sceviour didn't help. Most people agree on that part. They really didn't need to trade Hornqvist. If Rutherford felt he needed to trade Hornqvist he should have gotten a better haul, if not then keep him until a better deal came along.

Other than that the players they lost; Hallender, Bjugstad, Johnson, Schultz, Simon and Marleau didn't really move the needle. Kapanen is the best addition, he should help.

My two cents.

I actually don’t think you’re in the minority when it comes to the Horny trade. I think the majority would have rather kept him than made the trade that we did.

Yup, and we all know I'm not the biggest fan of Horn. Obviously this means JJ would still be on the team, but given the fact I don't know that the defense is any better than when he was here I'd rather have the stronger third line.

The “Haul” for Hornqvist would have been similar to what Tampa will get for Tyler Johnson

No team is taking on other teams money. It would have been Hornqvist + a 1st for future consideration to move that contract, at a minimum

Rutherford didn't make the trade to move Hornie's contract. Matheson's salary is the same as Hornqvist, assuming he hits his bonuses (CapFriendly) and why would you trade for him if you didn't think he was good enough to do so. The money is backloaded and his cap hit is lower but not his true salary.

This trade was a trade just to make a trade, nothing more.

Fun post

1) Agree Carolina would be my pick as team to beat. Goaltending again the big question and that can sink a team.

2) Washington- lost Kelly and rumor is Jensen may go to make them cap compliant though TVR would be a nice replacement. But that means they're banking on Schultz for the second pair. Lost a little depth up front, but I think goaltending will be fine. Still a playoff team.

7) NJ- Made some nice adds, but it won't be enough.

8) Pens- I still think this is a playoff team finishing 3rd or 4th, but that's it's own post.

- Tojo.

I think these past two years have proven that Barry Trotz is a threat regardless of what roster he has to work with. I would not count the Isles out so long as Trotz is the bench boss in NYI.

I think Philly only goes up from here. I don’t think people realize that Niskanen was really dragging and had become an uber over paid bottom pairing d man in way too big a role. Philly is what the Pens should be: aging stars surrounded by young, exciting players and I have to begrudgingly admit AV is good at what he does. I think they’re a lock to come out of the metro at this point, whether it’s out right or as a wild card. Carolina, Philly, and Washington will definitely make the playoffs. NYI probably will on the back of Trotz. We’re next man in the last one the bubble as maybe maybe not.

I see a lot of people putting mustard on the raw side of the burger while the first side is cooking, that way when you flip it, you flip it right onto the mustard. I need to try that.

Stupid odd question, but have any of you guys ever been to OKC and had a Tucker's Fried Onion burger? That poop is like 5 guys on sterioids. It was amazing.

- j.boyd919

I’ve seen that too but I gotta question what the point of that is when you can just mix the mustard into the ground beef at the beginning. It’s probably just a style thing that’s fun and is enjoyable to do with no real utility over having it all in the mix from the get go. Either way, you’re getting the mustard in there, and that’s what makes the burger.
