Karmanos had an NHL front office job because his dad owned the Hurricanes.

he was named assistant GM of the Hurricanes back in 1998 when he was 24 years old and had been Rutherford's right hand man basically ever since.

Jason Karmanos is also one of three brothers who sued their dad Peter Karmanos about 5 years ago for taking millions out of their trust fund for his own use.

This makes me feel better about the move. I just looked him up on the website and saw he was noted for hockey analytics, so I figured old-man Rutherford heard one too many times that Cody Ceci is not a bottom pairing defenseman.
