Leafs haven't done Jack, our d is better then theirs, same with the Oilers, flames could be a tough one, Markstrom will pull his groin, he's not that good a goaltender, Winnipeg has no defensemen and Montreal is trash.
Anywhere from 1 to 4 is where I see us finished at. - Pres.cup
I think the leafs d maybe better than ours... it’s at the very least a conversation. Brodie makes that team a hell of alot better imo.
Rielly, brodie, muzzin, holl/bogo Kids
Or
Hughes, Schmidt, Edler, Myers,Benn kids
Hughes gives us the edge, but I’d take Sandin over juolevi at this point and their kids in general are a bit better probably. |

Young team, talented forwards, did better than expected this past year playoffs, goalie that can stand on his head.
They added some solid piece this offseason as well, so I wouldn't sleep on them. |

Woudn't take any of them as paired against Canuck counterpart. Not in eye test or fancy stats would they be better then Canucks D. |

Leafs have been a playoff team longer than the Canucks have – playoff success aside, as we're just talking about making the dance.
Oilers are spotty. Their goaltending sucks, and their D isn't great, but that offense is killer.
Banking on Marky to pull his groin isn't the best plan to beat the Flames. They're a tough team that got better this offseason.
Winnipeg also had no defensemen last year and we couldn't but a goal against them.
Montreal are a good team. |

Do you guys play fantasy hockey? Why not just make trades like this there? I know the players wont match but you cam essentially do the same thing. Reread the post. I am an idiot |

Canucks' core younger then Habs core. One is building getting younger and better while the other is milking what they can from Weber etc. with a couple kids. |

Who is the Habs core?
Kotkaniemi is 20, Suzuki 21, Drouin 25. They added Anderson at 26. Their back end is older with no Hughes type, but Weber is still a beast and Price is their Marky.
Their future isn't shaping up as well as ours, but that team isn't a slouch if/when they're in the same division next seaon. |

I'll try
Elite big guy defenceman with a Canon of a shot.
Weber equals Myers
Elite puck mover defenceman in Hughes is mirrored with .... Edmonson?
Franchise center Peterson equals kotencandy
2 way second line center Horvat mirrored by ...Suzuki?
Snipping winger Boeser is like Drouin
Elite goaltender Holtby is basically price...
(frank), I can't do this, no way, sorry but the Canadians are nothing like the nucks, can't compare them. |

I would take Hughes over Reilly and Schmidt over brodie... actually going down the list until we hit Benn,I take our D every time.
Brodie is also why I see Calgary taking a step back, he's better then Tanev. |

Goodrow might be leaving town... not playing well these days.
Markstrom might help but the rest of the team took a step backwards. |

Oh dear god. Did I say they were the exact same team as ours?
My actual quote is "kinda like".
Weber is WAY better than Myers. I actually said in a subsequent post their D isn't like ours (specifically Hughes). But they have good, young, talented forwards in Kotk, Suzuki, Drouin and now Anderson. Tatar, Toffoli, Gallagher, and Daneault (their 2 way Horvat-esque center) provide their depth. Price is/was to Markstrom.
They're a team being pushed by their young players. |

I know, I was trying to compare them and they came up short. I'd say their goaltending is better, but our tandem is better, especially in a condensed schedule with lots of back to backs.

Montreal: Price / Allen
Ottawa: Murray / Nilsson
Toronto: Andersen / Campbell
Calgary: Markstrom / Rittich
Edmonton: Koskinen / Smith
Vancouver: Holtby / Demko
Winnipeg: Hellebyuck / Brossiot
As duos it's interesting... Van, Montreal, and Toronto I think have the best duos. Hellebyuck and Marky are great goalies, but their backups are pretty poop and with a condensed schedule it's going to show |

They're talking about having lots of back to backs and even possible double headers... 2 games on the same day! Tandems could play a huge part!
I'd put our goaltending tandem, top 4 D and top 6 forwards against any of the teams in Canada right now. The teams that have better forwards(arguably the Oilers and the leafs) have far crappier D. I don't see any teams D being better, Flames got worse this year, Montreal got older...

If I had to rank the Canadian Division right now on paper:
1) Edmonton
2) Calgary
3a) Toronto
3b) Vancouver
4) Montreal
5) Winnipeg
6) Ottawa
I doubt that's how the season is going to shake out since there's more moves to be made by everyone, but right now, that's where I see Canada's teams being ranked on paper. |

Edmonton resigned Smith in net?
I think barrie will be huge for them and this could be their year....
Calgary took a step back except in net, no tandem though, I'd put them neck in neck with the leafs.
Leafs... well they're pretty much like Edmonton so....
Any of your top four could be 1st, I wouldn't put any of them above the Canucks though, goaltending is going to make all the difference, if the schedule is as brutal as they say, having a solid tandem will make the Canucks better and could bury the Oilers.
All in all I don't really disagree with to it rankings... but 1 to 4 are close. |

Teams that can't make the playoffs or win a round with less players back don't deserve high rankings especially when they didn't upgrade core. Canada knows:
1- Canucks
2- Flames
3- WPG
4- HABS
5- Oilers
6- Toronto
7- Sens
But if they get to prey on sucky teams in Pacific Division then:
1- Vegas
2- Canucks
3- Oilers
4- Flames
5- Sharks
6- Yotes
7- Ducks
8- Kings |

Don't underestimate Tyson Barrie, kid has good offensive game and will rack it up on the pp.
