Benning offered UFA right winger Leivo a similar deal to the one-year, US$875,000 contract he signed with Calgary on Saturday. Levio, 27, had 19 points (7-12) in 36 games last season before suffering a fractured knee cap. #Canucks

He wanted to play with his team from last year, so he signed to play with them.

55 the first season? Depends on how many games the season is

Marky, Tanev, Leivo... I'll go under on 55. Marky good for about 10-12, Tanev will miss 15, Leivo will miss 10. 37 is my guess.

- NewYorkNuck

Pro-rated I'd go 40 as the over under.

Yeah, I forgot to factor in shortened season.

Pretty decent writeup on three prospects from the draft. They tend to pump their tires a bit but you never know.

They always like potential but Z has had a good progression from draft and JJ sure has some nice tools. So a 3LC and top 4 D to come up in a few years would be a score for the Canucks.

I'm happy the Canucks injury problems are signing in Calgary. Whats the over/under for man games lost with former Canucks? I'll go with 55....
- boonerbuck

55 seems low there is 4 of them, I hope Tanev is out for 55 after blocking a Petey shot

Leivo is a much stronger boards player than Sven. Sven has more skill, but Leivo could play good D and chip in offensively. A good 3rd liner to step into the 2nd line for small amounts with injuries.
- NewYorkNuck

Sure but Zacmac is better on the boards and at finishing too.

We seen the best of Leivo at 27 not getting better. Rather the minutes go to ZacMac now and let Lind/Hogs fight for the other spot.

Flames getting older and CAnucks younger with solid core is a good thing.

Marky with the groin injury after Dekey Pete zig zags the puck in the net...

I don't mind losing Leivo. It frees up some ice time to get a better look at MacEwen. He's the strongest of the three on the boards and will drop the gloves.

Myers and Edler more likely they like going for the ankles lol. Those Flames sure gambling on guys, now that have got their pay day, don't have to fight through injuries as much in a shortened season.

If only someone said that ... yeah the toughness part another need with no Ferland and Rous a lightweight.

True.
Leivo is/was a stop gap and not part of the core.

I'd like to see him in the lineup over 3-4 current roster players, but what are you going to do?

Honestly, I don't read many of your posts. I was replying to Yorkie.

Their time is ending sooner then you think. Really see the push for prospects and ELC's filling the roles as core evolves.

Hi!

Hope your weekend is going well. I'm still struggling a bit with no hockey in the evenings as it darks earlier and earlier.

I watched the new Bruce Springsteen movie on Apple TV+ last night, an accompaniment to his new album, Letter To You. I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but I enjoyed the storytelling and the vibe of his interactions with the E Street Band.

Anyway, here's the new blog:

Here's some light on what's going on with Podkolzin's game in the KHL.

https://canucksarmy.com/2...LabLAmi1n-cFVehdQMCpQZlww

You can put the idea aside that he's not been given a chance because he's bound for the NHL. His 4rth line mates are drafted kids as well and are doing better and not getting scratched... in fact, Marchenko has been rewarded with top line ice time.

Podz' play crashed after his first 8 games where he wasnt on the ice for any goals. It completely reversed. He's sitting because his play had been going downhill. His last game was his worse of the season. Two scratched since. He'll be in Finland for the U20 tourney in 2 weeks. He should come back with some momentum after that.

Likely a coach issue. Wish he could come over to Canada sooner.
