Kyle Palmieri is the one winger I'd want the Pens to grab. Add him midseason when they don't have to pay full salary, and then see what his contract will be after the season. |

Dallas : Gustav Nyquist and a 4th round pick
Columbus : Roope Hintz
Not a blockbuster, but one I could see being mutually beneficial |

Steen for Matthew Tkachuk
Sundquist for Brady Tkachuk - BluesDroogie Brady Tkachuk is realistic, but gotta give Dunn, Kostin to start with. Dunn can go with Steen's salary since we have Mikkola and Perunovich as LD behind Krug, Scandella and Gunnar |

Not a 3 team trade. That’s 2 trades involving different teams. With flyers hosing the Jets, then panthers getting the best of the flyers.

To all the guys out there who say Laine is a one-dimensional player who doesn’t play defence (a statement I disagree with), I’ll ask you a question.
For all of these bogus proposals for Laine, if you put Ovechkin 4-years deep into his career in Laine’s place... would you even consider it?
No, the stat lines don’t match up. But Ovie came into the league with the keys to the team in hand. He got all the minutes, and made the most of it. He didn’t play much for defence, but nobody minds when it’s a perennial 50 goal scorer.
Laine comes in with a very comparable skill set (one of the best one-timers in the league, and under rated passing ability) and gets slow-rolled by Maurice. In fact, P-Mo had stopped him from shooting at full power because he was bruising Hellebuyck the year goalie equipment was reduced most recently (Fact, look it up). By the time they let him get back to firing with all he had, he was in a slump and it was in his head. Took him a while to get his rhythm back. Jets have a “mishandled ovechkin” on their roster, and trading him for anything less than a king’s ransom would be foolish.
He is not Ovechkin. But he’s far more comparable to Ovechkin’s tier of talent than anyone else I’ve seen proposed in a trade for him. And he will be a perennial 50-goal man. But currently the problem is coach acting like a step-father trying to break someone else’s kid of their bad attitude (which results partially from the kid’s lack of understanding of why he’s being treated this way). Jets need to smarten up and let Laine have his way before things are too late. Coach’s approach is very old school, and I believe his largest shortcoming is inability (moreso just being unwilling) to admit his approach needs to change. 18/19 season the jets were awful after Jan 1, but nothing was done to chance the approach or lines (Hayes doesn’t count). So an early exit was anticipated, and somehow Maurice is still at the helm... and extended. Something’s gotta give, it’s gonna be usage or Laine is going to officially want out. |

Agreed. Love how his proposal fleeces the Jets for not only Laine, but Ehlers as well . . . then doesn't even bother putting Ehlers in his line projections.

Bruins trade Jake Debrusk, Urho Vaakanainen, and a 1st to Winnipeg for Patrik Laine. Bruins will need to find a way to move John Moore's contract to make the dollars work.

What about something like this?
Calgary - William Nylander 31 G 28 A 59 Pts
New Jersey - Johnny Gaudreau 18 G 40 A 58 Pts
Toronto - Kyle Palmieri 25 G 20 A 45 Pts
Toronto saves 2.3 Million in cap space and Palmeiri potentially improves point totals playing with better players. Calgary gets Nylander for 4 years and brings with the hopes Nylander can score more in the playoffs and New Jersey gets a very skilled home talent who will likely re-sign after 2 years. |
