This wouldn't be accepted at the moment, but if the Preds were to have a bad year and decide to rebuild and save some money due to economic reasons next year, when Oilers open up a bit of cap space, this would have to be considered. Josi would have to waive NMC but maybe if Preds are committing to rebuild he'd rather go play with 2 best players in the league.

Nurse is younger and cheaper than Josi to replace him on left side, also get a choice of young developing LD. This is also reliant on Puljujarvi putting up decent numbers and showing growth this year. He is Nashville's replacement for Arvidsson, and they get Lavoie who is a high end forward prospect.

Basically the Oilers upgrade on LD and RW while Nashville gets 5 years younger and add really good prospects in those positions, while also getting 2 good picks. Jarnkrok is thrown in as depth forward to even out value for adding both high value picks and prospects. He was drafted by Ken Holland.

To create cap space the Oilers would let Chiasson, Larsson and Barrie walk as free agents and buy out James Neal, while resigning Ennis and Haas on cheap deals and Nuge on fair $7 mill per deal, and bring up Bouchard, Broberg and Benson on their ELC's.

Remember the main reason Laine rumors are out there...not because they have control and want to keep him, because they can't afford to keep him without other pieces they may not want to get rid of going.

1) Everyone knows Laine is disgruntled, even if it is just "minor"
2) Every team knows the cap situation of every team in the league, it's not a surprise to anyone.
3) The flat cap was unexpected and a lot of teams are going to do things they weren't planning on doing.

So if in anyway you think Winnipeg holds all the cards and leverage then

Laine may not get traded this year, but someone will and that's a hard MUST unless the plan is the season never starts and deal with it later.
