I would have my Penguins sign UFA CHARA. To provide cap room I trade Letang to Montreal for a couple # 1s. Solves a lot of problems for the PENS! |

Jets trade:
Wheeler
3rd Round pick
Minnesota trades:
Dumba
V. Rask ($1M retained)
2nd Round pick
Wheeler waives NMC to play in his home state. Winnipeg sheds a large contract which will be (if it isn’t already) a burden. Further, the Wheeler problem causing a rift (hearing this in certain non-internet circles) in the dressing room goes with him.
Jets get a very solid and cost controlled defender in Dumba, who is on the trading block. To help sweeten the deal, Jets take 2 years of Victor Rask who hasn’t worked out in Minny, paying 3/4 of his salary.
This works out to the Jets actually taking on an extra $1M(ish) to rid them of their captain, but guess what? It opens up a spot for Laine on the top line. It also makes it possible to pay the young Finn what he’s going to need to stay put.
What this does... doesn’t seem like a franchise defining Blockbuster. But it most certainly could be, depending on how the near future (post-trade) unfolds. There’s a very really chance that this trade could solve the Jets current roster hang ups. Especially with a rejuvenated Rask earning a spot, or improving his trade value. |

As a Preds fan i would take this - EkscuseMe22
Not sure all Flames fans would but given Fabro played 19 minutes a night as a rookie on a good blueline in Nashville, is a right shot and waiver draft exempt I would make that trade. |

The deal that would have a massive impact for both teams, that I would suggest is: Vancouver trades- Jake Virtanen, OJ, and a 2021 unprotected 1st round to Winnipeg for Patrick Laine. This then frees up the money to sign Mike Hoffman. Winnipeg gets better as they get 3 really nice pieces for Laine, and they replace Laine with an almost comparable player. Vancouver gets the most talented player of the deal, and would look amazing with Petersson for years to come. The only thing is the Canucks would need to drop Brandon Sutter to make the numbers work.

Wait, you were being serious with that offer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, I wonder if Calgary would take the single worst contract in the league and a terrible, overpaid dman for their two best players?
I mean, can’t hurt to ask, right?
Since we’re spitballing here, how about Dermott and Kerfoot for Couturier and Sanheim? I’m just asking - AxlRose91
Leafs do that in a second. Probably a bad deal for Philly. |

This is a bad take. Take a closer look at the Jets cap, they can give him 9+ next year if they choose and do not have to give up anything significant from current roster. Jets are good shape. Stastny (6.5) was brought in for one year to give Perfetti more time. Jets have both Heinola and Samberg who should both be in the team this year but will absolutely be next year on entry level deals. Perreault (4mil) comes off this year as well. Jets are well set up with flat cap and giving Laine 2-3 mil raise next year won’t affect them at all. - Ross77
This is totally right. People forget that the rumors spiked because the Jets had/have huge needs on defense and down the middle (2nd line center). And to fix those areas they looked no further than their abundance on the wing. And while this abundance is great and they CAN afford it this year and next, they are making decisions on Laine given that they probably don't WANT to commit 30 million plus on 4 top line wingers next year and going forward, not with the experience and depth lacking in other positions. Laine is the big target who should yield the biggest return in a trade, but I am sure they are listening on Ehlers just as much.

If I were Rutherford I would be talking to Toronto. Here's the trade I would try to make.
Toronto gets - Jared McCann and Marcus Pettersson
Pittsburgh gets - William Nylander
This would make Pittsburgh's 4 lines:
Guentzel Crosby Rust
Zucker Malkin Nylander
Rodrigues Jankowski Kapanen
Tanev Blueger Aston-Reese
3 pairings
Dumoulin Letang
Matheson Marino
Riikola Ceci |

I don't know if Calgary would do this, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I think the Flames would really benefit from Ghost's offensive upside, and puck moving ability.
Flyers get Tkachuk, Gaudreau, and a 3rd.
Flames get Ghost, JVR and a 2nd. - CupOnBroadSt.
This has to be a joke right?
