I don't give a rats ass about who is doing what.

I found humour in selling less packaging as a feature and providing the reason that they are including less.

Pretty sure if I remove 10 cookies from the bag, they could use less packaging also.

I think its funny because they will sell adapters separately in its own packaging... unlikely to save much on the environment side.

I usually check out Twitter once every few days but only for 20-30 mins max. There's a few people I do enjoy following (James Lindsay, Douglas Murray, Bridget Phetasy, Gretchen Lynn, et al.) but I can only take so much of it. I feel like you're drinking from the firehose if you stay too long on there and it usually just gets my nerves going and my blood boiling. Too many bad actors and manufactured outrage, virtue signalling, and bullying for me to take.

I almost never tweet a response and I never check any notifications. This helps.

Facebook? I used to argue quite a bit on some groups there but I've seen the light: you aren't going to change hearts and minds in that forum (or Twitter, for that matter). I rarely post anything and the only reason I think I hang on to that platform is because my family is on it... then again, I've stopped following 95% of them.

I've never used Instagram and I refuse to.

Maybe in 2021 I'll completely cut the cord with Twitter/FB. I can only imagine how it must feel to be truly free!

I find Twitter a useful place to gather those news outlets and commentators I find interesting and credible. I just make it a habit never to read any of the comments.

That poop is a fascist wasteland.

Out here in the 4th Reich of the AB prairies, FB is the main driver of their ideology. They will never believe accredited journalists, every problem they have is PMJTā€™s fault, and all they do is show each other their phones for some stupid FB (fascist) meme. Then they go on the radios and talk about how theyā€™re so much smarter than ā€œLiberalsā€ because they donā€™t read ā€œfake newsā€

Itā€™s an idiot pandemic out here. I even find myself avoiding flat-earth conversations. So Kudos for deleting FB. And everyone else who isnā€™t a RWNJ needs to follow suit.

- My iPhone does everything I need it to do. But I can't really think of any killer apps that would make me want to necessarily commit to Apple or Android.
- I can't think of a single app on Android
- I've never, ever had the need to take advantage of the expandable memory
- I've had battery issues with every phone I've ever owned. My iPhone 8 Plus (which is now my wife's phone) and my iPhone Xs (which I only took because my company provided me with one) last a full day if fully charged overnight. I don't need it to last any longer because I always charge it overnight.
- iPhone's proprietary charging cables are available everywhere and they're cheap (I can buy one for $7.99).
- I'm happy with the screen size, resolution, and camera on the iPhone.
- My claims about testing are based on my background in dev and QA. Android is like the "wild west" -- Google has very loose rules about what can be uploaded to their Play Store compared to Apple's far more strict protocols. I prefer the stricter nature of Apple's protocols (albeit, it's a much slower process to get new versions uploaded). Not only that, but Android OS has different flavours - Samsung's OS has presented us with challenges that other Android OS flavours have not. But yeah, I'm glad the end-user experience has been largely good for you -- speaking from the Dev/QA/Support side of things, it's been a (frank)ing pain in the ass.
- Per price, Apple is always going to be more expensive because it's proprietary hardware as opposed to the open world of Google which allows for a lot more variation and competition. It's the one downside of the iPhone. But I'm willing to pay the extra $$$ because I much prefer the user experience.

To each his/her/xer own though. I just always find the Apple hatred/derision to be a bit extreme. šŸ¤·

So basically, you just agreed that your Apple can do everything my Android phone can do. Great.

7.99

maybe a 1ft one, that is not certified and not guaranteed to stop working almost immediately.

Yeah the apple user experience is so different. You are forgetting that I came from Apple. The only tangible difference is Facetime vs. Skype... and I can Skype anyone, but Facetime only works with other Apple devices. Other than that, there is virtually no difference in the way the phones work and it took me about 2 days to get used to Android.

Hey, fill your boots. If you are happy paying 3X the price for an iPhone, that is your prerogative. Just don't start claiming that there is something wrong with Android devices in order to justify Apple costing more.

Yes, I agreed with you that Apple and the Android can do pretty much the same things. I don't believe I ever made a different argument?

You can get a 3-pack of "certified" iPhone charger cables for $15.99 here:

https://www.amazon.ca/Qun...le+3+f%2Caps%2C160&sr=8-5

My iPhone charging cables are all 3rd party and I've never had any issues. šŸ¤·

On my iPhone, I use WhatsApp for facetime with family/friends. I use Microsoft Teams for work. I've also used Skype. Don't think I've ever bothered using FaceTime. So meh.

You can pretend that the user experience is the same between Android and iPhone but there are differences (the app grid, as an example). I prefer the Apple experience and ecosystem. You don't. Cool beans.

Not sure where you get the idea that I've suggested there's something "wrong" with Android devices unless you're taking my Dev experience as a knock against Android. What can I say? I like the more controlled and predictable world of Apple - perhaps a biased view based on supporting, developing, and testing on both platforms (I'd rather not descend into an even more boring topic).

Look, if you prefer Android, that's great - I'm happy for you! But you seem to have a real hate-on for Apple that I find a bit over-zealous.

Lastly, is the price of the iPhone really 3x the price of an Android? The Samsung S20 Ultra and the iPhone 11 Pro max are pretty much the same price. I mean, sure, if you want a low end Android you can go buy one -- there's certainly no discount versions of iPhones (unless you go for an older model, I guess). More flexibility in terms of phones for Android. More cool beans for you!

This is pretty late to join in the argument here, but I think the original poster's point was simply that Apple decided to give out less stuff with their phones, while claiming a lofty goal of "saving the environment" by reducing their packaging.

It just seems dishonest. They are cheaping out and giving people less stuff with their purchase of a phone and then acting like the only reason they are doing so is to save on packaging. They are taking the excuse of saving on packaging to include less product, thus saving money.

Whether other phone places like Android offer such accessories with a purchase or not isn't even the issue to me. It's just the way Apple presented things as them trying to be environmentally conscious.

Now if they also reduced the price of their phones even a tiny bit to compensate for that product that they are no long including, pointing out that those items were built in to their selling price, then it'd be different, but I doubt they are. And you better believe when they include extras, they factor their prices to make sure they are still profiting, so including less, and not reducing the price means... They make more profit on the sale.

It's like Sony virtue signaling that they're going to reduce environmental waste by not including remotes anymore when you purchase a new t.v.
