Watched a girl texting while driving yesterday. It was exciting seeing her exiting the ditch and taking out the 60kph sign at about 80kph.

I don't think you have the bad ticks in your area of Nova Scotia. They do bite, but will no give you lyme, I believe. My MISTAKE, They DO carry Lyme in your area.

In Nova Scotia, only the blacklegged tick carries the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, and not all blacklegged ticks carry the bacteria.

yup, poor Hutton... Too bad for him, his save % will be better in the 10 losses but it'll still all be his fault.
- PatC80

Yup. Sucks for Ulmark, too, 'cause he's gonna be looking for a big payday but he ain't gonna get it 'cause he ain't gonna win a lot.

If it's a shortened season, Buttalo might be able to sneak into a playoff spot with a hot start to the season, though.

IHME projecting 200 deaths/day in Ontario by end of February (150 with universal mask use which I thought was pretty close to where we were - on masks)

14 kinds of ticks in Nova Scotia but only one “can possibly” carry Lyme disease. Yes it’s the black legged tick. That was the one that bit me 3 days ago.

But... it has to be on you for at least 36 hours before you can get Lyme.
The one that was on me was there less than 6 hours, so I think I’m good.

Remove the tick as close to the skin as possible and cut it in half or flush it.
Wipe the bite with rubbing alcohol and hope.

HOHO...summer lasts for 2 weeks in the Maritimes.
Winter - Summer - Hurricane Season - Winter

You can swim when the water temp gets to the point where you go numb, but you can still function. That’s the last week of summer (week 2).

I think Buffalo is a weird team. They don't have a great deal of up front depth, but with Eichel and Hall they have some great offensive pieces, and Skinner shouldn't have been as bad as he was. If Hall is closer to his Hart trophy year, the Sabres should be a threat. If Hall is closer to most of his other years, he'll get 15-20 goals and miss 15-20 games.

They added Staal, and even at 35, he's still skirting the inevitable cliff, running at nearly a point a game. If Thompson or Mittlestadt can take the next step, they could be good - it would at least make their top-9 formidable. On the back-end they have a pretty decent defense with Dahlin, McCabe, Ristolainen, Montour, Miller and Jokijarju.

I don't know if I have a ton of faith in Ullmark or Hutton for them, but it's not a bad team. Goaltending consistency might be their biggest weakness.

I think these models assume that we continue as we are. I expect we're going to see a significant rollback in some opening laws. Most enclosed spaces where people remove their masks (bars, restaurants, casinos) to consume food/drink can be contributing to as much as 70% of the cases (I'd read one study that had it at 50% attributed to restaurant-goers; I'd read another study that had 71% attributed to restaurants/bars/casinos - so I'm sort of blending that into one base assumption).

I agree with the of a regional approach, so that areas where there is little-to-no impact shouldn't be forced to close, but areas where the spread is higher should have stronger restrictions.

The model projects against 3 sets of assumptions - continuing with current policies and behaviour, universal mask wearing and easing of restrictions and no mask wearing. The last one is ugly.

The projections provide policy makers information to make decisions about potential further tightening. Hopefully they pay attention. More places are using regional or even micro area decisions (postal codes in NYC).

If we continue as we are, it'll get worse before it gets better wouldn't it?

In Peel region, we just finished week 2 of the 4 week "pause" and cases are not dropping. How much is due to Thanksgiving, I don't know. Apparently, there was a lot of parties in Brampton.
In Mississauga, restaurants and bars are not being blamed, it is still being blamed on social gatherings outside of your "social bubble".

I haven't seen my mom in months.. It sucks, because I know she is at a higher risk.

The Ford government needs an actual plan and not just press conferences were they announce how much money that they are spending
