368 games with 84 total points Jay Beagle has a higher PPG than him.

Ya, I'm going with the over with Podkolzin on that.

by 0.006 and that number is going to go down the more games he plays...

Strange comps but I agree with your point, it's odd to debate whether a 19 year old Russia will be successful here based on what he's done so far.

There a pretty wide range of comparables from Panarin with 8 pts in 20 games during his 18 yr old season to Tolvanen with 36 pts in 42 games to Dano with 7 pts in 37 games.

Kids are always hard to predict more so Russians.

I’m not trying to compare him to other players actually, just getting a chuckle out of people defending him. His coach is too mean, he is leaving for the NHL, he’s a young guy in a old guy league, blah blah blah.

I hope he turns out to be an awesome player for the Canucks. I don’t expect that to be next year (this season). If his KHL coach won’t give him minutes does anyone believe that Travis Green (or his replacement) will?

No power play or penalty kill for him in the KHL. Low ice time. Scratches.

"He'll slot right in to our top 6".

We're talking about Green who gives more top 6 minutes to LE than 70% of the players on the team who are more productive including Boeser at times. He's going to have to do a lot of things right to get a look at the top 6. His season ends in Feb a few months from now. He's got a serious mountain to climb to be a top 6 NHLer...

No excuses should be made but on the flip side interesting to see how many are underestimating how good this kid will be on the smaller ice. He is a bull dog and an excellent passer - I think he will be perfect beside Petey and JT

Been saying it every time on Podz his game is better suited for the NHL. Plus having a team that needs him to succeed he could get a role replacing UFA Pearson on Bo's left with JV on the right setting those two up for shots. But he'll probably be broken into during the season in a bottom 6 spot.

I think it's less about defending him or his poor production and more about acknowledging that the KHL is a very different league than what we see in NA and other parts of europe.
While his lack of production is a red flag, it's not necessarily the whole picture.

I do actually think Green would give him minutes, assuming that the pundits are correct that his defensive and physical play is already NHL calibre which everyone seems to agree on. Green played Eriksson after all....

The debate is whether he's a top 6 prospect which IMO is no more clear today than the day he was drafted.

World Juniors is probably the best place to see how he compares to his peers and he's consistantly been very good there especially when you consider he was the only 2001 in 2018 and one of 2 last year to play for Russia.
Groshev had 0 pts to his 5 in 7 games.

This is a well reasoned and constructed post. I disagree with a lot of it, but well done.

So you are saying the GM is telling the coach to do this? Because any coach will play who he thinks will give them best shot at a win otherwise. What kind of coach or GM would choose punishing a 19 year old over the best chance at winning? Over a business decision that has no effect on the current season. I don't buy it. Not at all.

You said "likely a coach issue" about this post in the last thread.

- boonerbuck

This is pretty well documented and it happens in all sports. Also, they will want to send a message to the other Russian guys what happens if you don't extend...

Owners have a lot to say, especially in Russian sports.

Jamal Adams?

Be thankful they didn't sign Jadeveon Clowney who's done SFA in TENN.

Isn't Clowney hurt now too? Glad they didn't sign him.

Adams is fantastic and he'll help when he's back, but if you need to blitz him every time to get some QB pressure, that means your front four are just terrible. Hell, even signing Clay Matthews would be a big upgrade right now.

TDL is coming up, Carol loves his D, I'm sure something is in the works. We don't have a first round pick the next 2 drafts. Has Benning been talking to Schneider?

Honestly, if I were Seattle, I'd consider going after J.J. Watt with the Texans doing so poorly. If they want to contend and win the NFC and go to the Super Bowl, they're going to have to beat both Green Bay and Tampa Bay to get there and that ain't happening without a pass rush.

You'd have to start with a couple of 2nds, but you never know. That would be going all in!
