So Leivo was offered essentially the same deal by the Canucks, but he chose the Flames......why? The Benning cap mismanagement factor? The Markstrom factor? All of the above?

“They want me to come in and be a scorer and help contribute offensively,” Leivo said shortly after Saturday’s announcement.
“This year, right from the git-go when free-agency opened up, they seemed very interested,” Leivo said of the fit with the Flames. “A lot of the guys were messaging me. They really sold it.
“They made it seem like they really wanted me, and it felt good to feel like that.”

The forwards weren't JB's priority. He sort of pooched himself with OEL, remedied that with Schmidt, won with Tanev and Marky contracts by walking away and misplayed the TT one (but that was also tied up due to Schmidt).
They sold Leivo on the team (including Marky and Tanev) and told him he'd play up the lineup. Guess he didn't feel that way playing with Gaudette.
