Closest to reality but take the two d men out. Dahlin arguably is more valuable than Kane right now due to potential age position cost etc. but two firsts and a salary dump in okposo is pretty close.

Wow, all those deals and the goaltending is still awful. Couldn't find a way to bring back at least 1 NHL quality goalie in all those swaps?

Buffalo might be the one NHL team that could possibly have worse goaltending than the Hawks . Carter Hutton and Linus Ullmark, woof.

Naybe the Murphy trade is close to possible but I dont think the owners and GMs are out to there starting to make sweeping long term changes with the upcoming expansion draft, and the fact that are attempting to decide if and when they even play, lose $, when they are paying their partners the players, etc.

Yeah I saw the one of the two Athletic's draft/player expert ranked Dahlin like he was the cat's meow...I guess I just don't see ratchet up on his play to warrant it.
It's like the tool who was the Arizona blogger who refused to see Oliver Eckman Larson as anything but the best defender in hockey and the new messiah.

A trade for Kane will be a high profile one that will include two future #1 staggered, and a few more picks and a good player that fits a need on the specific Blackhawk team in the year they make the deal.

If Boy Scout Kane is who you trade.

If younger carefree Kane emerges, you get less...

Kane is at his peak now. Great player still but expensive as hell and a lot of his best years are behind him. No way he garners that return even if the current economic situation was normal.

But for argument sake what comparibles would you use in the cap era?

no idea who this is but this goes completely against what Stan wants to do. so basically we will be mid lottery for the next 3 years. you need to get mutiple #1's and and high end prospects to really rebuild. at this point we have no top pairing D in the prospect list and priobably 1 forward in Dach. Kubalik and CAt are fringe and need to see how they progress. if kubalik is 20 goal guy he is 3rd and if Cat is a 25 guy he is also a 3rd liner. mostly because they are AVG at best in the other aspects D, passing, skating, cycle, etc.

LMFAOOOOOO This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever read. these trade proposals are an absolute joke
- OlympusVII

C’mon, guys - these aren’t serious proposals - either individually or in total - just an exercise in “what if” on an October morning when under normal circumstances, we’d be talking about actual games in the beginning weeks of a new season.

Wow. You guys really have either an inflated view of the past their prime players of Keith and Kane or undervalue our last three draft picks. And just because you are willing to take on the Okposo contract doesnt make this in any way shape or form a reasonable trade.

The original offer of 2 firsts and 3 former first round draft picks (I think I recall) is really not remotely realistic.

Excuse our touchiness, but you got your cups, now you pay the price for overpaying your stars and see what you can do from here. Might be better than what we can do with our draft picks, but we certainly can do better than these trades.

- atlsabsfan

No. Keith sure. If you're going strictly by age and his receding hairline then sure, Kane is past his prime.

His play says otherwise. He's coming off two of his best years from a pts perspective and is still way more than capable of driving a first or second line.

If I were Buffalo I wouldn't likely do that trade either, but if I'm Stanbo, that's in the neighborhood of what I'd accept...and I'm referring to the one Theo the blogger mentioned.

Well, I think in the case of a couple visitors, we have the following scenario...

Darn it Theo! You did the brothers thing (Subbans) and the sending the player to his hometown thing (Kane).

Other than that, very entertaining and not at all likely

If you base the first bolded off of what he said in every interview, then it is exactly what he wants to do.

We have no idea what we have in our D prospects yet, until they get on the ice against the NHL. Hughes and Makar are dynamic, smart hockey players, but they both need to improve their defensive play. We've seen Boqvist play for 1/2 a year. Let's let our prospects actually develop.

Well exactly. I don’t know about you, but watching Keith in his first season didn’t leave me with the feeling that we had a future Norris winner.

Blackhawks: Sam Reinhart, Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn, 2021 1st, 2022 1st
Sabres: Patrick Kane ($5M retained)

Similarly, the return on this trade is high because the Hawks are taking back $5.2M in Reinhart’s salary while also retaining $5M of Kane’s salary. Reinhart adds back a top 6 right wing.

My counter as a Sabres fan would be

Reinhart, Risto, Mittelstadt, 2021 1st and 2022 3rd

No need for the BHs to retain salary

The original proposal was Eichel, Dahlin and the next 40 years of 1st round picks. So we're moving in the right direction

Its always an interesting exercise to see how team writers overvalue their players. None of these proposed trades would be acceptable to the proposed trade partners in the current climate. For instance, to trade Duncan Keith the hawks would need to offer a prospect or high pick as a sweetener. Believing they could get a 1st in return is preposterous.

They wouldn't have to add sweetener to Keith. His contract is perfect for a team that is low on cash and he can still play NHL defense. His cap hit isn't high. He isn't at his peak, but there are teams that could use a guy like him in a heartbeat.

While I agree with you on the rest of the trades, you must not watch a lot of Blackhawks hockey because there's no way the Hawks would need a sweetener to trade Keith.
