Well yeah. I didn't say it'd be any sort of problem if he never made it to the NHL. Just not willing to entirely write someone off as an outright garbage human because he did some really, really poopty stuff when he was 14.

Doing crappy stuff like that can prevent you from getting A LOT of different jobs, even if your sins were in your youth. Don't see why the NHL should be any different.

If he's really remorseful, he'll take his lumps, work hard, and through a sincere effort to counter culture and improve his community his image can be rehabilitated and something good can come from it, perhaps even in hockey.

I don't know why people are still sleeping on Buffalo. Granted it's been a mess the past few years but they added Eric Staal for Jeff Skinner, Dahlin Reinhart will be a year older, Dylan Cozens - Jack Quinn and John Peterka all coming. If they get the goaltending and can build some consistency + chemistry in the season, there's no reason to believe they won't be a playoff team. The sky's the limit if they make the right moves at the right time, they have the pieces, obviously Jack's got to lead properly

Well, he was judged in a court of law, and punished. He will be punished socially for a long time because of this story. I doubt he will get endorsements soon, even if he makes it.

Lots of young boys are very cruel. Some learn goodness, some imbibe it for social reasons, and he might too.

Yeah I'm not defending or explaining away what he did at all. It's brutal and disgusting.

But I'd also give the kid a shot at redeeming himself and maturing into a decent adult human before his name gets entirely dragged through the mud
