Or we can try our prospects instead of adding unwanted scraps from bottom feeding teams. Just a thought - CanuckDon

We only have Rafferty and Chatfield for RSD which are below the 2 mentioned so why not make the trade using expendables? Plus the D on those teams were not bottom feeding they had trouble scoring. - NuckUp
Will they take you for a top 4RHD?
We have 2 top 4RHD, how are we getting a 3rd and where do they play? If someone takes Myers for a different RHD, then sure, but eventually you need to play your prospects.
We don't need another number 7 RHD, you just listed two...
We're not getting rid of Benn, so that 3rd pairing is his. |

Juulsen is awful. Don’t know much about the kid in AZ but if he is a healthy scratch with them I’d take my chances with Benn or Rafferty on the right side. I’m certainly not trading a pick or prospect for another teams scraps. Let’s give our young players a chance |

Yes I am all for our young players getting a shot. Plenty will. Like I said ideally Cernak could be had.
But for now a depth move using an expendable B prospect is scrap for scrap. No term commitment. But potential to step it up over Benn/Rafferty/Chatfield a not to enticing trio for right side.
Juulsen ran into injury issues he may have an OJ comeback story. Lyubushkin is known to throw massive hits something we are missing. |

I get increasingly angry every time I read Cernak. Why trade an asset when we can grab said scraps for free on the waiver wire 🤨 |

Got 40mg of Cherry bomb gummy in me, 70 mins and going strong and Audioslave cranked.

Hockey IQ and Work Ethic are the only things you can't teach. He has the skill and most of his other assets are at an NHL level. - Retinalz
Hockeu IQ is the most subjective argument in hockey, i believe the most useless..
If you believe in Hockey IQ, then we just let the most intelligent player sign with Calgary...Tanev.
Now if you are talking skill, Hoglander will be a super duper star and Hughes will own the Norris for a decade.

Okay you don't like to make a depth move that has no risk and can reward. But what about Cernak why not try to trade for him given Bolts can't keep all their RFAs. (Caveat JB has to solve LE/Ferland which can't happen until season and AHL confirmations) |

Heh? While hockey IQ is slightly subjective (and a pretty silly moniker), it's still a huge reason why players are great or not. However, it's only one tool in the toolkit.
Henrik = world class IQ
Virtanen = terrible hockey IQ
They have other skills, of course, that pair with their IQ to make them better players. Tanev is a very smart player (though I doubt the one with the highest hockey IQ on the team), but his other diminishing skillsets are what's holding him back/not let him be a beast. Hell, his IQ is really the strongest part of his game and is what's let him survive in the NHL all this time. |

Tanev is a defensive beast, offensively he is absolutely terrible. He would probably stay healthy/we would get shot on less if he knew how to pinch(an issue I have had with him for years). I am glad I no longer need to watch as he starts skating back instead of trying to keep the play alive with a board battle. Especially when he could easily be first to the puck, but decides to turn tail and prepare to defend.
Tanev was great for us, provided a steady partner for Hughes, but 4 years is too long and we upgraded with Schmidt.
EDIT: So to say Tanev was the most intelligent is completely wrong. The guy only knew defense and was always an offensive liability. |

How can we afford Cernak? Bolts won't take a cap dump, and we would need to clear probably at least 4.5m to sign him. |

Only way is Ferland is on retirement LTIR & run a roster of 20. That would create over 6.5m minus 1.5m already over cap. Trading out cap would alleviate that but at a cost. Baertschi & LE would easily clear waivers. The 3rd player probably would |
