The cap situation is different, Col has enough room due to McKinnon being the second best player in the league at 6M, while tons of talent on ELC deals that contribute more. Girgs also got 3 years to Vals 2, when I believe McKinnon is due for a 13M contract. Basically they have the offensive firepower in their middle six we only can dream of, and having Nichushkin at that salary doesn't hurt them. I'm not a Girgs hurts the Sabres guy, but it's a completely different scenario. You ask, I answered.
