Good or bad? To me moving sucks and leaving all these ties behind. - BetweenTheDots
It’s not so bad, I moved 5 times in the 1st 13 years of my career.

Possibly? The way the previous post was written it sounded like Nashville specifically asked if Stan wanted the pick "to take the goal tender?" - rpeters01
And when Stan said yes they said NO !! Like a Cat with a mouse . |

They asked for our first in '20, '21 non protected plus Dach. Stan said "I'll call you back and let you know I'm thinking about it." |

I saw a hotshot wearing this number in my first year of house league, so the next year when I made the travel team and the assistant coach surprised me on my way out of the locker room by asking me what number i wanted...I asked for this number. Let's just say my dad scoffed in disgust when I told him about my choice, after he asked me when we were in the car leaving already. I thought it was cool at the time, but I didnt care too much. I wasn't a hotshot at that time.
The next year I wore 12. My first year of AA and we had a very good team and finished 2nd in NIHL so that was a good number for me.
The next year I wore 17 and we had a great year. Won regional Silver Sticks and a bunch of other tournaments including beating the Marquette Electricians 1-0 in the championship game which was special because they hadn't lost in 2 years.
Had to go with 27 the next year (Roenick). Lost state AA travel league championship by a goal and had surgery on my arm that didnt help too much so not the best memories.
Went with 14 in college, played club and had a good team so it was fun. Sweet jerseys I still keep however and my 4 year old nephew picked out 14 to put on his Blackhawks helmet.
And I am embarrassed to admit this but in the spirit of being a kid at the time and not caring, and hopefully making some people laugh...my first number I chose was ...00 lol |

Good. I live in Santa Monica, which has gone down hill fast in the last 5 years, lining the pockets of the city counsel. All the development, I am calling it Manhattan West. |

Thx! Lol, well I was inspired by a house league hotshot from another team that we played the previous year. I remember him scoring goals and celebrating to the crowd, looked like he knew everything to me, as a 10 year old. I didn't put up numbers on my bottom feeder house league team that year and I guess I was thrilled to make the travel team the next year; I thought 00 would be cool, in the moment when the coach asked me to pick a number. I didn't think twice about it looking ridiculous lol |

My favorite number has always been 4. Keith Brown was my first favorite Hawk. Throughout my sporting life, if I couldn’t get 4, or 44, I would always try to get one of the double numbers 11,22,33,55,66 etc. as always thought those looked good on a Uni. |

My company, Toyota, moved our HQ from Torrance, CA to Plano, TX 4+ years ago. Over 4,000 people moved, the rest took the buyout package. The folks from SoCal couldn’t believe how much house they could buy in North Dallas.
I still know quite a few people in SoCal. Many LAers are also moving to Vegas, both Henderson & Summerlin. - scottak
All those SoCal folks brought their love of big government with them and have previously reliably red Texas turning blue. |

Hey, if it's a number you like, why not? And you got the choice as a kid. Even better. |

I hear you on the double numbers especially 44 and 55. My birth year is 1977 so I'm partial to Dach's number. |

I’ve never understood why people leave one place because they don’t like what it’s become, and then try to turn their new home into a facsimile of the one they left. |

Pretty wild its doing it to many southern states, so not having any state income tax it's bringing companies from blue states with blue employees. |

Well in this case yes, but I believe the majority of people leaving Cali voluntarily also are going to Texas. |

Is it though, i don't know how many cases but for every business owner who's attracted to no state taxes, how many employers does he bring over that believe in benefits |

Companies move between states for lots of reasons - taxes probably the least important - but all economic - they leave union friendly stated for so-called right to work states, they move because states foolishly throw money at them in incentives, the move because of infrastructure issues....
People move for lots of reasons, too - to follow companies, for tax reasons, cost of living issues, climate....
But they generally bring their politics with them, because their politics are only partly economic - they want the same expensive government services in their new locations as they had in their old - a D in CA will be a D in Big D. |

What’s more amazing was from 1952 to 1988 (Except 64 when no one voted for Goldwater), California as a state voted republican.
