I can see Lind as a 3rd line RW if his skating continues to improve. He has the tools & piss & vinegar I like.
McDonough has worked on his skating & another year of NCAA will show if he’s got a shot. 4th line imo with room to move up if he stands out. - Nighthawk
Lind didn't look out of place at the scrimmages post lockdown. He's at the stage now that he should be putting in a claim for an NHL spot. I would like if he was playing over seas right now.
and look at that

Been told Chatfield has opportunities to play overseas and is looking at them.
Maybe Lind will too. |

Even the historically worst drafting teams usually get the top picks right, at least six or seven times out of 10, which is where the Canucks probably fall into. If you look at our drafting early we actually drafted some really good players but kept trading them away to try and get better quickly. Building takes time. In Benning we trust!
Look at the 1979 draft, they drafted Rick Vaive, Brent Ashton and Dirk Graham, who had 1906 points between them in the NHL, but, Ashton only played a year and a half with Vancouver and Vaive half a year. It’s piss poor management more times than it’s piss poor players. - Pacificgem
Building takes time and some were calling for Benning's head after one season.
3 more seasons of Benning. |

Nice. Agree Lind could use more playing to ready for the IF season coming. Definitely could be a call up given the F logjam when injuries occur. |

Given all the uncertainties surrounding the NHL with covid we can expect many prospects getting in the line up due to the flat cap. Rotating in & out at the least. As the next year or 2 go by more & more ELC’s playing will be a common occurrence. |

i was reading a report this morning that the nba wants to start up in december. they previously were considering a january/february start (like the nhl.)
the reasons for starting early are 1) christmas game tradition and they avoid football and the olympics next year; and more importantly 2) they don't see much of a change between december and early next year with respect to the pandemic.
to summarize, they don't think restrictions (or loosening of restrictions) will change very much in the next few/several months. they don't see the situation getting materially better i.e. they don't foresee full buildings.
they get approximately 40% of their revenue from gate/in-building transactions.
it makes me wonder what the nhl is thinking? |

I was reading that in Euro leagues it's only about 15-20% for most sports. They also have a crazy amount of sponsors. Jersey's, cars, clothing companies, sports betting.
I sort of hope they take something from this and transition into a stronger financial position after this. |

Maybe this would be a good idea for the AHL, no gate revenue so get them streaming and advertisements on their Jerseys to make up for gat e revenue. |

It would be easier for AHL to cover the gate revenue due to it being much smaller than the NHL but it's still much less of a prominent league and probably would be harder to get sponsorships.
Advertising on the jersey's could be a start. |

i just gotta ask: aside from maybe the 5-10k fans that go to the games locally, who watches or follows the AHL? do you think there are many out there aside from a few who follow nhl prospects? is there a hunger for hockey beyond the nhl (on a big scale) in the us?
i'm skeptical that there is a huge fanbase that would stream a lot of games (and pay to do so). |

I do miss WHL games.
For most that live in a big city, an hours travel to see a game is normal. I say (frank) that. |

i'm not talking live or quality. and i'm also talking numbers.
what i mean is do the smaller leagues have the finances to cover a no-attendance season (or limited attendance)?
i don't think so and i don't think streaming is a realistic idea for the smaller leagues. with so many entertainment options from home, i don't think these leagues can get a large enough paying stream audience.
it's bleak without a live gate is my thought. |

An interesting read on the woes to keep goals against down.
https://canucksarmy.com/2...hole-third-line-centeror/
Given I want Petey to be used to his strengths & Bo to a degree as well it leaves Gaudette to be a better 3C. He needs to really up his 200’ 2-way game or at least the wingers to do so. Motte could be worth a try along with Hoglander. So here goes...
Miller Petey JV
Pearson Bo Boeser
Hoglander Motte Gaudette
Roussel Beagle MacEwen/Sutter
