In the cases of OJ Podkolzin their opportunity is in lesser roles to begin with. This is a good thing to allow them to develop further. As for JV the roster was in upheaval & poor. His case is easier to judge. He hasn’t fulfilled reasonable expectations but can still yet.

The way the roster is currently constructed allows top picks & lesser picks to slot in comfortably if earned. Players such as Gaudette Hoglander Rathbone Lind & others to walk into good situations. Covid & the flat cap have made opportunity for them all to be hungry & very motivated.

How they seize the chance will decide how good we can be & how soon & sustained.

Honestly, anyone who predicted Petey and QH would turn out this well this early are liars and they felt the same way about OJ and Virtanen.
