I dunno, I find it hard to believe that a kid ranked as a top 10 prospect in the NHL pre draft(probably still top 15-20 after) doesn't have top 6 upside. I think his floor is a 3rd liner and his ceiling is a first liner myself.

I think people are too worried about the stats with him. Scouts all agree he's an impact player, doesn't mean he will make it in the NHL or put up a lot of points but he brings other necessary elements to the game.

He's our best prospect and it's not particularly close.

I'll go with 3rd liner. I laugh at when Fanboys beat the top 6 drum. We'll need guys to help out there anyway when those dumb bottom 6 contacts expire anyway.

Though dismissing Podz' potential is premature. The reality of the flat cap is his ELC and talent will be needed. They can't keep higher priced vets and will need prospects to fill the talent gap after paying our core.

All in all it’s easy to look back. I see all those signings as depth needs at the time. Beagle a year too long. Didn’t care at all to sign Benn.

Beagle was redundant with Sutter here, 3m for a 4LC isn't good, if it was 2mx4 years it's more palatable.

You're right about Sutter, I liked the trade but felt it was a little overpayment at the time, not much, the NTC was what I didn't like, same with the Beagle NTC. Seems silly to give bottom line guys a NTC.
