I have heard that Podz Is a good passer. Based on what his KHL GM said, he definitely needs to work on his Shot, but everything else is there. I would bet that the Canucks have him make that a focus over the off season.
I bet Petey could give him some pointers, or point him in the direction of a good shooting coach.

His passing skills are ok at best.
I've said it all along. He doesnt show natural offensive instincts. This is something he is going to have to learn. Until he does, if he does, he'll be a grinder. But he's expected to be on the team in 4 or 5 months? In a top 6 role? He's supposed to show up with these skills in that little time? How likely is that?
When he shows up, he'll most likely work his way into the bottom 6 and take a couple of seasons to move up the line. Do i know for sure? No, but what do people know to suggest otherwise? What we do know right now doesnt look top 6 at all.
Hogz will be at camp. Podz won't. We'll see how that goes first. - boonerbuck
Sure Hogz will get a crack in camp to try to fill in TT's spot in the top 6. Competition so far is JV and maybe Gaudette so its not such a huge hill.
Maybe conditions manifest to create the leverage that JB needs to clear LE's/Ferlands cap. Then a top F addition could be made. Timing is tricky as it could be well into the season when that opportunity might be viable to pursue.
Otherwise, Podz addition is in question on if its before the TDL and eligible for playoffs.

Needing to work on getting his shot off quicker and NOT having nautural offensive instincts are 2 different things. Which scouting report said Podz lacks offensive instincts?

Hoglander is a LW behind Miller & Pearson at this time. Might even be behind Baertschi if a so so camp.
RW has Boeser & JV with Pod later most likely 3rd line or platooning. Ferland plays either wing & if healthy making it easier to insulate either of Hoglander & Pod.
Overall more depth on F’s makes it harder to crack & will take a big impression.

Its my opinion. As you should know by now, I'm not big on group think which is what I feel when I compare the cliché type reports vs what I see on the ice.
Go ahead and point out that you would take their opinion over mine. The consensus(group think) gets stuff wrong as often as right when projecting(probably more often wrong).

We're all just fanboys here – so I'm always curious as to what people draw their conclusions from. Are you watching his games? Or just reading post-game things? Or is it just an opinion?
I know scouts blow a lot of smoke, but being ranked as high as #3 at the draft, with people who actually watch much more than us saying things like:
"A skilled winger who plays with an edge. Podkolzin combines his fine hockey sense, puck handling and shooting with an aggressive, in-your-face, type of game. He competes hard, is very difficult to play against and has the tools to be a high scoring player. " (Elite Prospects)
“Podkolzin checks all the intangible blocks, as he can be counted on to address a variety of his coach’s concerns. What separates him from all the other “toolsy” forwards is that he can either create or finish plays while travelling at maximum speed, and his strong balance and stickhandling seem to convince defenders to back off more than they should. Podkolzin is effective both in open ice and during trench warfare, and he’s capable of completing on-the-tape passes that lead directly to quality chances near the net..” ( Steve Kournianos, The Draft Analyst)
"An abrasive, two-way winger with tantalizing offensive upside. A thorn in the side of every opponent." (Dobber)
"An absolute pit bull. Podkolzin offers high-end offensive awareness, lightning quick hands and a confrontational style. Despite some muted point totals coming from his club team, he’s made a habit of showing up in a big way on the international stage." (Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects)

I can find reports like that of players who didnt live up to their top 6 projections. Lots in fact. It just looks cliché when you compare what was said, and what developed. I'm sure if people wrote those pre-draft reports now, a year and a half or two later, some may have something different to say. I'm not sure in the redraft rankings he would be anywhere near the top 10.
Some had him ranked higher. Fact: He was available at 10 and how much further would he have slipped? We dont know...
Some scouts talk about his offensive toolkit. Fact: It's pretty invisible as of now and he keeps falling down the depth chart in Russia.
If JV ever turned into a rink rat & weight room & video room junky he’d be a beast. His drive is highly questionable unlike Pod. Miller should ride JV endlessly. Petey & Pod practice together would up Pod’s skill set. Hughes/Schmidt set up Brock one timers. Off season working together would pay big rewards.

Given cap and relationship factors Sven is less likely to be on roster then LE.
As for F positions you know its interchangeable as to side more so then D. But hey maybe Hogs impresses enough to play with Petey. Putting JTM with Bo which was the first intention when traded. Not saying its happing just pondering.
I think Green will have options and just pick his top 4 wingers first. Then try different combos as he's done before post camp.
How was Jack Skille’s scouting report ? - CanuckDon
I know right, you could make quite the list of players who had those type of comments tagged on them and never lived up to it. This is what I mean about cliché and group think.
How was Jack Skille’s scouting report ? - CanuckDon
Skille is a winger who’s known for his speed. A hard worker, he also has a pretty hard shot. Not known for being a physical force, but has a good frame.
- Erik K. Piri (Elite Prospects, 2016)
"Opinions diverge fairly widely on Skille as a prospect. Some see him as a scoring power forward, others as at best a checking line player.
Without question, he possesses exceptional speed and a blistering shot that he can get off very quickly. He is a rock solid 205 pounds and quite strong, especially for his relatively young age. Against college and international competition, he showed an appetite for contact and could at times be physically dominating, whether in the corners or establishing position in front of the net.
Some question whether he will have enough size and strength to succeed playing that style at the professional level. Other questions about Skille include a reputation for lingering at center ice, waiting for outlet passes and ignoring defensive responsibilities, as well as an overall lack of hockey sense."
