he adds the toughness factor that is otherwise lacking. i think he's a solid 4th liner that can kill penalties and move up for a few shifts if needed. i think $1.25-$1.5 is fair for him. and maybe expose him for seattle and if that's who we lose, that's fine |

Unrelated note, that Pulock contract. I think you guys did well in limiting term, but I you guys might be a little hamstrung. He's not a bad player by any stretch, but it makes me feel better about the ADA contract.

Huh? Are you saying he was overpaid? $5M is a steal for Pulock. The term is the worst part, honestly. He'll be a UFA in 2 years and they'll either pay top dollar to keep him or lose him. |

I thought the deal was good. The issue I see is the Isles now have 10 guys making $5M or more and Leddy and Bailey are the only ones without some form of a NTC. Plus they obviously still need to pay Barzal. Not that any of that is Pulock's fault but it's a lot of high $$ guys |

Lou gets creative enough with the cap to deal with it.
They can bury a lot in the minors to be cap compliant by end of training camp and then my guess is Andrew Ladd will magically end up on LTIR. |

I don't think it's an overpayment, I'm not sure I think it's a steal. I mean in all honesty, I'd probably rather have Pulock at 5 million than Trouba at 8, but I think it's a case where it's about even with market value. His AAV of 5 million is right around the AAV of Shea Theordore and Orlov, and he probably slots in ability wise between both of them. Werenski also has a 5 million AAV, but I feel like if i used him as an example, that would be deliberate cherry picking a value contract.

Not a steal in the sense that it's an absolute 100% team-friendly, gift of a contract...but I'm comfortable saying Pulock is a $6M-$6.5M defenseman (over a longer term) in "normal" times |

It’s a steal. Pulock look less than he likely should have gotten to free up or keep open cap space for Barzal. But in two years, Pulock will be a UFA and should see $7+ million on a long term deal |

Well he did file for arb, so I don't think the arbiter would've awarded him a ton of money. Staple predicted it could've been around $5.5M-$6M...but yeah they certainly came out of this about as well as they realistically could have. Now....on to the next problem lol |

I wonder what that number is going to come in at? Honestly I think you get him signed and under the cap with some moves. Now signing the Beauviller contract next year could be interesting

Probably somewhere between $7M and $8M, honestly. Obviously nobody has any idea with Lou at the helm, but that seems to be about where the predictions are. Probably similar term to Pulock, somewhere in the 2-4 year range if I had to take a stab at it.
Next offseason won't be much better for the Isles. Pelech, Beauvillier, and Sorokin will all need new deals. Not super worried about Beau unless he has an absolutely insane year because he tends to be a bit streaky on the scoresheet. Can't imagine they re-sign Cizikas and, as much as I love the guy, I would be in full agreement on that one. |

I think I'm with a bunch in the board that says he can suck an egg. We have plenty of internal 4th line plug options. I'd just rather have PDG, Howden, and even possibly Smith down there, which doesn't account for the longshot that Barron makes the roster. - 2sticks1puck
Agreed. Teammates can't stand the guy, and he really isn't overly talented. He can bring a grit-factor for sure, but so can 100 AHL guys begging for contracts. No reason this plug needs the attention of Arb rights because he's worth 900k on a good day. |

he really needs to take a break from social media
he has every right to defend Trump and support Trump, half of America supports Trump, I have no problem with that, but when he dips into the realm of Covid being a fake conspiracy, it's a problem, because he's an employee of a league that is shut down over this thing and he needs to tow the company line on that.
Trouba's wife is a NYC nurse who I am certain has seen some horrible poop, he doesn't want to say something stupid and create some friction with his new possible blue line partner.
When the league starts up there's going to be very strict Covid rules for all the teams and he's going to need to follow them, they can't have a guy who just does his own thing and thinks the whole thing is bullpoop |

I thought she was coming here for medical school / residency which is what was a big factor in Trouba signing here. |

I agree with everything you said here. He needs to follow the rules, not only from a league disciplinary standpoint, but with the resurgance of cases here in the area, if a few fools like him cause outbreaks the pressure to suspend/cancel the season are only going to grow. Next season will potentially be way more difficult to complete than this season. It's possible, but I'm not sure you can bubble that many teams for a full season for that long. Baseball was barely able to make it work and that was with some creative scheduling and when the outbreak was only a fraction of what it is now.
