Hogz listed at 192 pounds and agile. Plays against men already. I dont see a problem because he's short either. - boonerbuck
So the Palmu example is a good one?
While I think size does still matter the bigger red flag for Hoglander IMO is that he doesn't put up a lot of points, ironically similar to the Podz discussion.
He's obviously a bit younger than the following players but tracking to put up worse points per game in both the SHL and other development leagues. While he's clearly got incredible skill he's never been a big point producer in any league.
How many of these players will be top 6? Likely some but like I said they've all so far produced offense much more consistently. They were mostly 1st round picks as well which isn't a surprise.

Hoglander is a really fun prospect because of highlight real moves and style of play, I'm not sure that makes him more likely to be a top 6 producer. |

I bank on determination & a players motor. Too many players bust out without it. Wanna be in the best league it takes dedication drive then talent. - Nighthawk

The VGK depth with their speed is my model. We need more & the puck retrievers. Unlike the Leafs who are soft. The dirty areas & the trenches are what PO hockey is all about. |

Hoglander is putting up more than a half a point per game(decent numbers). Podz puts up less than a 1/4 point per game... that a significant difference.... not similar.
Palmu was listed 5'6" and 172. Thats 3 inches shorter than an already short Hoglander. 20 pounds less as well. Palmu is in a different class when we talk about height and small players. |

Then we need less hodz and more Podz, the knights had size and speed, Podz is a fast skater and great passer.
Palmu was fast and gritty.... not big so he failed. |

Podz is playing in a far better league then Hogz, hodz is playing in the equivalent of the ECHL, where he'll be playing in 4 years, no doubt...
3 inches is a big deal, you're right, hodz is 3 inches under 6 foot tall, if he was 5 foot 10, I'd like him more....
Do you think hodz is a better prospect then Podz?
Higher floor?
Higher ceiling?
Better chance of playing 100 games in the NHL?
Doesn't matter what you pick, you're wrong. |

I think Hogz has a better skillset for the top 6 but Podz more likely will be a bigger difference maker from the 3rd line.
No offense but it's hard to take a lot of these posts from you serious. You are trying too hard.

Too much focus is on what a top 6 or 3rd line winger is or isn’t. According to most here then Hyman shouldn’t be on the 1st line if that’s the case.
How a line is assembled & gels is what matters not simply stats. |

Great third wheel....
Yes, you're right and I really like hodz I'm being realistic and am just trying to stir the pot a little.
I don't think he's big or fast enough to make it in the NHL unless something really clicks between him and Pettersson. |

I see Podz a bull top 6 200’ 3rd wheel
Hodz a 3rd line 200’ energizer bunny
Neither are a liability but scoring in the NHL will be their big challenge. |

I agree on the first count, don't know if hodz is fast enough to be effective defensively. He's a highlight reel machine and decent 2 way player, but he's not that fast and plays on the big ice.
I think Podz will rack up the assists, his playmaking and passing skills are really good. |
