It's simple, there are a lot of closet racists/sexists out there that are too afraid to let people know how they feel, and then Trump comes along and they now feel empowered to be openly racist/sexist because "If the President does it, it must be ok." And that is where your Trumpets come from. Everyone that supports him will never be able to convince me that they are not a racists. I have friends that I always thought were a bit racist(never openly said anything truly racists, but always said the whole "I have a black friend so it's ok...") and they love Trump, they let more racists comments slip now a days as well. - Retinalz
Its a lot more complicated then the obvious "deplorables" and "silent majority" labels. Populist/autocrat/neo-Fascism policies are attractive to different people across many diverse groups. One common factor is fueling prejudices along cultural/socio-economic lines. Add in messages, that stoke fears and depict strength to combat, and its a powerful attraction.

Most votes does not mean highest percentage, those are two totally different things, 11 percent in 04 was less total votes then 8 percent in 2020 and trust me, it was far more votes then the 40 percent in 42.
Total votes means total individual voters, not highest percentage of total voters. Google it, it's true. Can't find it now but it was on NBC last night.

It was always the same with every couple we met, for ten days.. so all these "Normal People" were definitely not giving any benefit of doubt.
Over 5000 on the cruise...BTW not one Canadian we met needed to tell us about their affiliation to the Liberals or CRAP parties.

As you'll notice, I didn't actually group anyone. But Trump and his team have. His success is based on appealing to new definitions that are more individualistic than traditional demographics.
