I was actually a huge fan of Zherdev that one season. Very one dimensional but some exciting moments.

Eh Zherdev was a younger, cheaper Zdeno Cigar. Change my mind. P.S. I didn't like Cigar on the team either

I think he would have gotten that though if they went through with the arbitration

yeah I liked him too until that 7 game series vs Washington where he was absolutely invisible and didnt get one damn point in the series

I must have eliminated that from my memory. Surprising a guy that talented couldn’t stick in the league.

It's maybe 250K above what I was hoping for, but structured as $1.45 and 1.65 mil, so in the range you might expect for year two.

I mean is it even a given his cracks out starting lineup? I think that's a legitimate question. When your top 3 LW are locked in, he's 4th line or nothing.

I haven't watched as many games as Jim, but I've watched way too many. He's just one of many offense first who didn't really produce, and couldn't defend. I guess I coulda said Hllavac or Dvorak, but I actually have a soft spot for those guys.

But that presumes a 23 man roster. If only one of Blackwell, Rooney, PDG make the roster, they have $2.34 million of room. That would allow Barron or Kravtsov to make the roster, even with the performance bonuses, but not leave much room.

That is precisely why I don't like (what I perceive to be) an overpayment to Lemieux.
Have you seen any parameters of the deal? Wondering how much they carry if he were to be sent down...

I think they'd have a dead charge of 2-300k. Unless the team makes another move (i.e a trade which I guess is possible), there just isn't any room for him on the roster. I'll say this alot until this rebuild settles, tons of competition is good, but don't have guys just for the sake of competition. We have tons of young guys who can either have the potential to be really effective bottom 6 players, or show something that could be valuable as a trade chip down the line. Why are we giving Lemeuix any amount? When he came here he was the type of player you take a chance on, but times change and now he really isn't needed.

Still hoping for Jan 1st. The fact the NBA thinks they can start even earlier, I think is encouraging for hockey. Somehow Fehr and Bettman have had their crap together better than any other sport, I'm confident this gets done.
