I’m not sure what the complete roster looks like with all healthy and him making the team but I envisioned Laughton at 4C.
- ClaudeFather

Thwt would really be a pity, imho. Scotty has really come on in the last couple of years. He was one of our best forwards in the last few games in a tough match up against Isles. I could easily see him scoring 22 goals 47-50 points over a full season playing on a decent caliber line. More importantly, I think he could be a clutch player during playoffs.

On a personal level, he is entering a very important contract year.

For me, if the short/medium term solution is Frost on LW, I think it is one more argument for the departure of JVR one way or another.

Especially when a couple of these clowns are actively cheering for civil war.

Bracing for or preparing for civil war isn’t necessarily cheering for. Just saying

Morgan Frost

(please guys, lets just talk hockey today)

- Tomahawk

I think this is the year Morgan makes a statement step not only in Flyers team, but might also raise eyebrows across the league.
He has all the tools to do so, given he gets stronger, which I expect fully expect him too!

I would love to see JVR gone but just don’t see that happening. I like Laughton on the wing and in a middle 6 role but it would be best for the team with him on that fourth line rather than someone like JVR.

Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done.

So all, if Frost breaks into roster, and Patrick is back to say 2018 form, then where does former play?

It seems like a guy like Frost needs talented wingers. He is going to center NAK and Raffl? That seems like it plays to his disadvantages and wastes his strengths.

- PT21

Ill chime in and say I think Frost's build and skillset is much more suitable to the wing at the NHL level.

I don't really see pushing good players down the lineup as necessarily being a bad thing either. Means you have better depth throughout the forward group.

I have pictured Morgan Frost at center in the NHL with two beefy wingers that can score from different places.

Something like...

Ratcliffe-Frost-Allison

However temporarily to start, I can see him learning a lot from other centers and gaining experience while being insulated a little.

Giroux-Frost-Hayes

Or playing on the 3rd line wing...

I think you need to adjust that total. Laughton doesn't play much on the PP and it would be very difficult for him to reach those point totals at ES.

I think Bill said something like Ratcliffe is mentally prepared for a likely role as a bottom 6 winger.

The line of Frost you provided obviously is not going to happen in the near to med level future, which is what I was referring to.

It would be a potential 3rd line next season. It was an example of what type of players I think would suit his style.

I know TommyHawk said he can play all 3 spots. I honestly don't know which wing he has favored in his past. I thought LW because he is a leftie.

Current LW candidates: Giroux, Oskar, JVR, Laughton.

By elimination, someone has to move down to 4LW.

I forgot Bee.

My preferred lines, assuming Frost can indeed play RW?

Roo-Couts-Voracek

Oskar-Hayes-TK

JVR-Patrick-Frost

Bee-Raffl-NAK

?

Now you forgot Laughts

I would do:

Lindblom Coots Konecny
Giroux Patrick Voracek
JVR Hayes Farabee
Laughton Frost Aube-Kubel
Raffl

I think that line would be a complete defensive liability. JVR has no defense. Patrick has been out for so long we have no idea what he's got. And Frost is too inexperienced to expect strong defense out of him at this point in his development.

Ok, fair enough. Patrick is a pretty gpod 2 way player, ofc and I did assume he is at least what he was.

I also think that maybe JVR is the black sheep in this forward group. Not a bottom 6 player, but not a fit in the top 6 right now. Flyers are in a bind with his contract IMHO

He can play that Thomas Vanek role: 4th-line, PP-specialist.

And if somebody gets hurt/struggles, he slides into the top-9 no problem.

Simmonds will probably do that in Toronto this year.
