Pulling out the race card, and crying racism anytime someone disagrees with you.

So modern.

The US showed just how stupid of a nation it is. Baited into a race war by politicians seeking power. Its youngest generation falling for the propaganda on social media every step of the way.

Jokes, memes, etc can be made about white people every day and its acceptable. Just accept the social shaming. Can be a proud person of colour, but that's pure racism if it's a white person.

Dare to defend yourself? Racist.

The double standard, is hilarious.

Both sides are idiots, and more concerned about power.

It's just hilarious to see the young masses gobble up 4 years of non stop media propaganda and instagram memes so willingly.

The double standard for being a "racist" is cute. Make it evil to vote for one side, make them lose their jobs if they dare to be proud of who they support in an urban setting.

Strategy worked well. Voter suppression. This young generation is intriguing. With their loss of face to face interaction skills, mob law, cancel culture, and inability to critically think beyond what's immediately presented to them. The enlightened aren't as morally superior as they pretend to be. The naive will learn.

Your one of the more ignorant people for sure. I doubt you know what a racist is.
I must be a racist as well since I don’t agree with you.

As a black man living in America (but originally from Canada), I can honestly say that the past four years has been the ugliest people have openly proven to be. I’ve had people call me the N-bomb multiple times these past few years for things that were completely uncalled for. One time for just doing my job. Another time because I didn’t like being showcased as a prop, in a bar, while being called an aboriginal because he thought he was being funny. The true racist came out from hiding under trump. Which shouldn’t be a surprise considering his first course of action was to build a wall to keep those damn Mexicans out. Far be it for them to want to come to America, the land of opportunity to better their lives.

Any country that doesn't have borders and laws doesn't have a country. If you want to immigrate to the US, the do it in the legal way. It's not just Mexicans illegally crossing the border. Tell me why as an American I have to work and have some of my money go to support illegal immigrants? Instead of going to support myself, my family or other Americans? Building a wall is not racist and to suggest that it is is absurd.

Yeah and so what.
Personally if you beat the crap out of ignorant racist I would see a thing if I was there.
With that in mind I’ve been called racist and had some pretty vile things said to me because of standing by convictions.
If you think our culture is going to get more civil as we slide further into socialism then your not paying attention.
AOC has already started a group to target Trump donors, lawyers etc for retribution.
Antifa and BLM groups are saying they want to burn it down meaning the USA.
Let’s not pretend the animosity is from Trump supporters or the national security threat from the massive white supremicist
Movement.
I don’t know one white supremicist and have never met one.
I am sure there are but they are so marginalized they have almost no influence.
I have met antifa and BLM members and the hate I hear coming from these people is appalling.
Remember Obama’s rhetoric against the police helped fuel police being targeted.
As a “typical white person” I don’t need a former president speaking for me.
I make my judgements on a persons character.
I know that’s old fashioned now.

IKR? They couldn’t help themselves, and now perfectly good hockey banter has been lost on a site dedicated to it, and it certainly seems irreconcilable.

Yawn.

Sigh

Chill out Joe Kool.

In case you did not notice:

1. there was hardly any hockey related traffic on this blob after the first few posts. Nothing got derailed because there was nothing to be derailed. Things are very slow on the hockey front.

2. We just went through the most contentious election in the past 100 years. Some of that is gonna seep through.

Nothing is permanent. Everything will be fine in a few days.

Remember when the Vice President elect said the president elect was a rapist and racist? I remember.

I am not 2Real but I said most of you guys are personally decent men, and not racists.

But guys like you stood by with your support while someone offered many pieces of evidence that his language was racist and his attitudes authoritarian. There is both policy value and symbolic value to a President's action that have real impact.

He called countries where a lot of poor immigrants come from "poophole countries", said we "should be getting more people from Norway", called immigrants coming over the border rapists and criminals, told white suburban women that Cory Booker was going to destroy their suburbs, engaged in a long and dogged birtherism story against Obama who just happened to be black, and called for a "“total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Of course he was not racist bruh! (wink, wink, dude!)

He disparaged the judiciary (Obama judges), the military ("I know more than the generals"), the FBI ("deep state"), the press ("enemy of the people"), the medical-scientist complex (Covid/Climate change). Now he is going out while shredding the democratic process itself. He retweeted conspiracy theories that used to belong to the cuckoo land of America.

How many people in this country now will believe that voting is inherently unfair unless they get the outcome they want? How many will trust any process of institutions?

For every loser out there who hasn't made it, he will believe it is because the system is jacked against him. Imagine what would happen to hockey if every hockey team that loses in the playoff starts to take this line?

And when guys on the other side tried to raise the alarm, you believed it was all part of some excessive PC woke culture that deserved to get the finger. It was all nothing, like dandruff on a dude's jacket that could be just brushed off. All politics, you know! And you actually laughed on this thread when someone said his removal saved democracy.

Those who condone such behavior even if not guilty of it themselves, those who come up with far fetched rationalizations, are complicit, and speaking again only for myself, are worthy of my deep personal contempt as human beings, and as Americans.

Objectively I dunno if your experience had more to do with Trump, or whichever part of the Michigan backwoods you happen to inhabit.

Often when people think of Racism, they think of caricatures like the Klan. I don't think that kind of stuff is a factor anymore.

But there is a continuum, and a needle within it. Many people still have many racist views in them.

And often not calling out the fringes, or using certain language, moves the needle in the wrong direction.

No country can support unrestricted illegal immigration. Everyone agrees on that. However, there are some things to remember.

1. If you have to build a wall, use better language to sell it. Stop talking endlessly about restricting drug dealers and rapists. 99% of the people who come are decent, hard working people who want to have a better life.

2. Remember that America was built on a platform of welcoming immigrants and freedom. Remember the words on the base of the Statue of Liberty. Yes, those people were legal immigrants then - but this is misleading. In those days, 98% of the people were allowed through. There was no reason to be illegal. Just over 20 years ago, Reagan stood in Berlin and said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall". The idea of a wall is completely opposite of what America stands for. If you have to do it, do it, but for god's sake, use sensible language and don't destroy the image of America.

3. There is a deeply hypocritical attitude to immigrants who come illegally. When people become rich, like the US, they often do not want to do certain classes of work unless wages are really high, which would serve to restrict business. This includes janitorial work, farm work, manual labor in construction, hotel maids, and work at Mar A Lago. We benefit immensely by having such cheap work be performed by such people.

4. Contrary to popular belief by guys like MJL, it is virtually impossible to get social benefits from the state for people in this class, because there are things like getting a social security # that are necessary. Is there fraud - sure, but it is not significant.

Lets recognize the pluses and minuses and come up with a sensible policy that allows for strict monitoring and guest workers instead of being idiots on both sides like sanctuary city proponents and racist propaganda.

Think about it... all undocumented workers pay sales tax, most pay income tax and pay into social security, and some pay property taxes... while not being qualified to receive most direct benefits. Only major exception being K-12 public education.

So it's likely they're doing more to support you and yours than you are doing to support them.
