I think FL was leery of signing him to a new long term deal. But, with the present situation it seems Hoff is willing to sign a one year deal. FL has around 5 or 6 mill left of cap room, I wonder if they might try to bring him back for 1 or 2years. The one timer of Hoffman is incredible, but I’ve also seen him skate in on an unscreened goalie and just rip a shot right past him. - Ratsreign
Maybe they will, thought I heard that they wanted to cut celery and that was a reason they haven't offered him a contract yet. |

So to clarify, he wasn't named Elite Player of the Week? - IonSabres
No I don't think he was given Icon status like Girgenson. |

No, that was just a rumor concocted out of the Toronto media, based off of the rumor (at the time) that they weren’t going to re-sign Dadonov or Hoffman.
They were supposedly going to cut ten million from spending. But here we are now and FL only has approx 5 or 6 mill left of cap space, and still could use to add a top6 winger. According to new GM, he wasn’t told to slash payroll, he was just told to not spend foolishly. Like Tallon throwing $10 frickin mill at Bob for seven years, and severely over paying (IMO) Stralman for three. |

The poopty defensive play in front of him had a hand in Bob’s struggles. But, you’re right, that contract sucks even if Bob plays as well as he is expected to. |

Nutivaara was a good add to Florida's defense and Gudas brings someone tough to play against. |

I like their adding of Nutivaara, and practically for nothing (clb accepted Pu in return). Gudas adds that physical “presence” that FL has lacked, hopefully he keeps his play on the right side of the line. The bottom6 forwards they added are all supposedly “200 ft” players, who play with grit and determination, i.e. harder to play against. For the butter soft Panthers this is good. I think Hall&Eich’s cousin would agree with me that some truculence is good to have in your lineup. |

if casey is not ready/bust
and girgens gets a spot on the third line
a 30-35 point pace is not unrealistic

He's been playing third line minutes for the last 4 years. Why would his point production suddenly double?

Olofsson had 25 even strength points last season. Sam had 38. Who's playing on this third line to rack up those kind of points? |
