Detroit, only team in the NHL that LE would be a lock for top 6. |

Starwars is sacred. Zahn was awesome, I belive Mara Jade is going to make an appearance in a future episode, which would be awesome. - Pres.cup
The original Thrawn trilogy was awesome...should have been the next three films after Jedi. Rumours going around that Disney may be bringing back Lucas for the next Trilogy. Feedback on the prequels was so bad and Disney bombed their trilogy (Rogue One was excellent and Solo decent) but overall it's bad. Lucas and Disney would have a chance to redeem themselves?
Would love to see Lucas back for the Thrawn trilogy...that would be unreal. But not likely. |

Ok. I didn't see that before.
It was a bit jarring at first, but it was respectful, and Star Wars
Got a Rogue One vibe in the hallway fight, but thats ok because it was the best part of that movie. Buzzsaw Vader.
You might wanna copyright that idea though. Updating as opposed to rebooting

I don't think he would. Maybe if he was a good center he would but not on wing. Mantha and Bertuzzi are locks. Fabbri is another that should be a lock unless they move him to be the 2nd line center. Zadina should be in the top 6 given he did well there before the end of last season.
He would have to beat out one of Bobby Ryan, Namestnikov, Fabbri or even guys like Svetchnikov, Gagner, Brome, Hirose. Possible that he could end up in the top 6 if he actually played well but far from a lock imo. |

Problem with the Wings is they are weak up the middle when it comes to their forwards. Filppula and Nielsen are not 2nd line centers (so so 3rd line centers even). Glendening and Helm aren't answers either. Veleno and Rasmussen aren't ready and might not be good enough for 2nd line. I really wanted them to draft Rossi over Raymond or any others after the top 3. We'll see how that turns out but now they will still need a top end center...not to mention top end defensemen and a decent goalie for the long term. To me wingers were at the very bottom of the priority list for the draft.

Yes I was surprised passing on Rossi. Top 6 C’s are hard to find if not drafted. No rush while the wings rebuild the next draft is top heavy for D. |

From my perspective Caro,l Allen is more than capable of giving Montreal 20-30 quality starts.......maybe more.
That's definitely an area (goaltending) where I figure Montreal has a significant advantage unless Demko can carry his limited success in the playoffs into the regular season with 50+ starts.
Montreal has likely better D and forward depth even though they lack the playmaking ability of Hughes and Pettersson.
Their Sutter is Phil Danault, better player by far.
I believe we'll take a significant step back unless we're back in the Pacific.
It's to be expected, the cap has caught up to us as predicted. Maybe the young players will carry the gap but it's a big ask.

Big ask big challenge for them to make their mark. Next season is 1 more year older so expect some more growth. 1 year closer to bottom 6 vets phasing out. |

To be honest i'm not too concerned about the results next season. Sneaking into the playoffs would be great but if not that's fine.
I'm more concerned about shedding contracts as we find players to fill high priced FA roles. If that's not available from within we have a drafting problem.
After 6-7 years spent mostly drafting near the top we should be able to hit on a few secondary players as well as selecting a few stars. The bottom 6 should be an easy fill if we're developing properly. |

This I agree with.
Losing Markstrom is the only ?
Losing Tanev-Stecher will not hurt us in the least or Leivo/Toffoli. Toffoli didn't play enough games to gauge him as a 'difference maker' and Leivo was injured so much the team was doing fine without him. We won without Toffoli in the PO's.
If Holtby/Demko can put up Markstrom 'like' numbers next year we will be just fine. up another 4 spots as we have been trending for the past 4 seasons.
Markstrom is the key element as he put up top 10 numbers last year. I think the Holtby/Demko combo can do it.
We are in the thick of it now with EDM-VGK and CGY. |
