From my perspective Caro,l Allen is more than capable of giving Montreal 20-30 quality starts.......maybe more.
That's definitely an area (goaltending) where I figure Montreal has a significant advantage unless Demko can carry his limited success in the playoffs into the regular season with 50+ starts.
Montreal has likely better D and forward depth even though they lack the playmaking ability of Hughes and Pettersson.
Their Sutter is Phil Danault, better player by far.
I believe we'll take a significant step back unless we're back in the Pacific.
It's to be expected, the cap has caught up to us as predicted. Maybe the young players will carry the gap but it's a big ask. - golfingsince
Perhaps, I believe that Holtby is capable of being far better then Allen. In a condensed schedule, with multiple back to backs, the Canucks tandem could be highly effective.

What if Holtby has to be the starter because Demko can't be? Price is a proven top starter.
Anything is possible but if dollars were even how many would you bet on Demko/Holtby being more effective than Price/Allen?
Losing Tanev-Stecher will not hurt us in the least or Leivo/Toffoli. Toffoli didn't play enough games to gauge him as a 'difference maker' and Leivo was injured so much the team was doing fine without him. We won without Toffoli in the PO's.
If Holtby/Demko can put up Markstrom 'like' numbers next year we will be just fine. up another 4 spots as we have been trending for the past 4 seasons.
Markstrom is the key element as he put up top 10 numbers last year. I think the Holtby/Demko combo can do it.
We are in the thick of it now with EDM-VGK and CGY. - LordHumungous
To be honest i'm not too concerned about the results next season. Sneaking into the playoffs would be great but if not that's fine.
I'm more concerned about shedding contracts as we find players to fill high priced FA roles. If that's not available from within we have a drafting problem.
After 6-7 years spent mostly drafting near the top we should be able to hit on a few secondary players as well as selecting a few stars. The bottom 6 should be an easy fill if we're developing properly. - golfingsince
Yes I was surprised passing on Rossi. Top 6 C’s are hard to find if not drafted. No rush while the wings rebuild the next draft is top heavy for D. - Nighthawk
Yes i'm hoping for Power or Hughes in the next draft and that they finally win the draft lottery in 2022 and get Shane Wright. That would be great which is why it likely won't happen.

In a regular season I'd agree 100 percent, if they are playing 15 to 20 back to back, Price will get injured carrying the team and Allen will struggle due to overwork.... or not.... regular schedule, I'd put 80 on price and 20 on Demko.... condensed, 50 50... I don't like Allen that much....

They have better goaltending, we have better everything else. Happy with that. And honestly, Holtby has a very good shot at turning it around with us imo.

I think Holtby will be fine if Demko needs more seasoning. Tough bet to make because I like our D better but the experience goes to Price/Allen. Each tandem has a Cup ring. Though Holtby carried the mail for his.
Really good question....have no clue who I'd bet on.
Goes without saying, Pod is a shoe in top 6 player next season. - VanHockeyGuy
Whatever happens I just want to see roster spots legitimately open up at camp. It always seems that the rosters are pretty much set before camp even starts.
