Sergio Garcia pulls out of Masters after testing positive with covid, what a wimp, he should be powering through it. |

Basically, a few people scouting at the tourney texted Benning to say congrats, kid played good. Benning said he speaks to him often and his English is strong and he is working hard on his deficiencies. Benning expects he will play w Canucks this season - CanuckDon
Was a good read, lots of talking heads jumping on the pro podz bandwagon again but to be expected following his showing at the tournament.
I thought Wheeler's quote particularly hit the mark.
I think Podkolzin has progressed about where I expected he would from his draft year to this point. He’s the kind of player who should be able to drive a third line, be a big part of a second line, or be more of a role player as the third-best player on a first line. I’ve never believed he was going to be a top-line driver, and honestly think some of the conversations about his upside haven’t done a good enough job contextualizing his deficiencies.
“But he’s still got the tools to be a very good NHL player who is a big part of the Canucks’ future, and there’s no question he should be playing more than he has.” |

He may have a shot at the Hart trophy next season.

Ya saw that. I agree with Wheeler, that’s exactly how I see his career unfolding. Valuable player but he won’t be a star |

Points aside, think he is the type of forward this team has been lacking for a while. Definite alpha. |

Yes, at the very minimum he will add some size and bite to the lineup. Sorely needed |

The only thing that matters in here is if he plays better than Boldy |

His style of play will allow him to be effective on any line he plays on. Being able to move around the lineup is important in this day and age. |

I'll take another kick at that dead horse as well...
I've been saying all along, I see him developing into someone that will best contribute as a strong 2 way player on the 3rd who can produce some offense. Of course a creative center on the 3rd could go long way as well. In the eyes of the author, "driving a 3rd line". I can see that. Basically the anti Goldobin.
Again, if Green is still coach, Podz will see time beside Bo. His 2 way Game will appeal to Green and an offensive black hole there has always been acceptable. You only need to look back a season and see. When TT was put on the 1st line, Boeser was demoted to 3rd line and LE promoted to Bo's line yet again.
The flaws in Podz offensive game are addressed honestly in this article as well. Again, I've been asking why is there so little being asked or analyze about that in all the material out there about why he's going to be a top 6 player or a fit on Petey's line. There's a lot of work that needs to be done and not a lot of opportunity to develop these skill before he's in a Canuck jersey and unfortunately, playing a shortened season or two to kick off that NHL career.

Also, if Hogs doesn’t make it in a certain role, the same can’t be said about him. |

If Podz comes over this season he'd slot into bottom 6. Would be good for him to work his NHL game in. Then we'll know if he's ready to take over from Pearson. |

Not in the KHL... so I don't know why he's proven that in the NHL before he plays a single game and not even a camp under his belt yet.

Yeah think their plan is to bring him along like Bo. But with flat cap his ELC will be attractive to plug a hole. So Podz may get accelerated. We shall see how he handles NHL game. Agree with others his skill set is more easily moveable up and down the line. |
