Hard to reasonably expect anything else. - boonerbuck
Who knows, it will most likely depend on the health of the team, chemistry and more importantly record of the team.
If the team is rolling and healthy, no way he displaces someone in the top6.
If the team sucks or playing Motte in the top 6 I could easily see him playing higher.
Too early to tell, just happy to see everyone now agrees that he's not a bust or was a terrible pick at 10. |

If Podz comes over this season he'd slot into bottom 6. Would be good for him to work his NHL game in. Then we'll know if he's ready to take over from Pearson. - NuckUp
You said it's a given he's displacing Pearson in this flat cap, elc world? |

Yeah think their plan is to bring him along like Bo. But with flat cap his ELC will be attractive to plug a hole. So Podz may get accelerated. We shall see how he handles NHL game. Agree with others his skill set is more easily moveable up and down the line. - NuckUp

Also, if Hogs doesn’t make it in a certain role, the same can’t be said about him. - Shuswap Wap
Why?
His two way stats are near the top in the SHL. He plays aggressive on the boards.
https://canucksarmy.com/2...s-in-the-shl-this-season/
Where is this idea that he is a 1 way player coming from? He may turn out to be a good 3rd liner with Podz. He plays a two way game and has excellent play making abilities.

I'm sure he can play all three forward positions, easier to move up and down the top 3 lines.

Ignoring one single large factor.......Politics - Nighthawk
Overstated. If he's a bonafide top or middle 6 NHLer, then they would be playing to lose just to screw with a single kid. The coach has talked about his hands... so is this article we are discussing. This is a factor most ignored by people. In it's place is some politics narrative... In reality, the coach is using him as a 4rth line forechecker because in the KHL, he has hands of stone.

Not in the KHL... so I don't know why he's proven that in the NHL before he plays a single game and not even a camp under his belt yet. - boonerbuck
Flat cap, ELC, dictates it.
Based on minutes played he'll average higher minutes then the bottom three players by the time his season is over. |

Was a good read, lots of talking heads jumping on the pro podz bandwagon again but to be expected following his showing at the tournament.
I thought Wheeler's quote particularly hit the mark. - belcherbd
I think he'll be a Brendan Gallagher type. Just non-stop effort with no fear of going to the dirty areas. Should be a consistent 20-25 goal guy who will be great on the PK and help out the 2nd PP. That's a pretty darn effective player IMO. Bo is the only other player in our top 6 that actually helps on the PK... I think we could use more of that to give us more balance and then you can be more creative with your bottom 6 instead of always going with defensive plugs all the time (ie Beagle, Sutter, Motte etc) |

Pod is top 6. - VanHockeyGuy
Eventually I believe so. As the article said & I loosely said he has top 9 versatility. At this point he’s still pretty raw but has the work ethic & skill set to be a winger on all 3 lines. That of course depends on deployment & the make up of a line.
As I currently see it Gaudette can use his 200’ game to offset his D short comings as well as be a playmaker for him.
On the 2nd line he would be good as a shutdown winger if that is what Green opts to do for Bo’s line. He would also add to scoring.
On the 1st line which is premature imo he would be the complimentary winger that would mesh in nicely. He would need to be a Burrows type player who feeds off his linemates to best succeed.
Overall I envision him starting on the 3rd line & moves up as needed or his play dictates.
There is so much that goes into line dynamics that it’ll come down to Greens choice of how he constructs his lines. |

More like his roster spot for top 6 as a goal. But like you have said wingers can play either side and Podz is a LS.

Like you said before people are too black and white on their takes. That misses the nuances of progression. From everything I have read, and what I see, as style of game, Podz is likely to move up the line up like Bo. Though he's a different producer. Podz seems like a better defender and passer. Not as good of a shooter or quick release finisher, at this stage, compared to where Bo was then. |

I can somewhat agree. Winning is priority & his club is stacked & that alone is a big factor. On lesser teams his TOI would increase no doubt. The big ice game is very different from the NHL size ice hence a different style of play. More ice to roam & time to create. NHL is faster & more skills are required to be elite or top 6. East/West is much more difficult & closer proximity to defenders pressures smart play. Physicality also increases. Less time & space are where most prospects fail & is at the root of why projecting prospects is so difficult. Euros who option to go to the CHL or the US generally get a better feel & can develop better. Imo that’s a huge benefit |

Not all wingers are comfortable on either side but it’s not as difficult as offside D.
JV can play either side & Miller & some bottom 6. What I like about offside wingers is better shooting angles but not all have the shot to take advantage of that. |
