Can’ t see Vegas doing this. Strome is the antithesis of how DeBoer teams play. He is a worse fit for Vegas than he is for the Hawks. - LAHawk
Still think buffalo or winnipeg might be better fits for strome.

Another part of the new direction of the franchise is not being top heavy again during the previous decade. Try to build a more sustainable model with solid all-around players who compete hard in spots 1 to 23 on the roster.
That isn't to say the team shouldn't or won't have its superstars. But they will be in a better long-term situation if they can avoid albatross contracts handcuffing their ability to sustain depth again. - Theo Fox
I'd prefer that the Hawks be much less active around the trade deadline going forward (unless they get a crazy overpay from someone). Acquiring roster players at the TDL tends to throw the entire budget out of whack. |

There was a suggested trade proposal earlier in this bog regarding Strome.
I feel strongly that there is no need to pick up veterans when Bowman knows darn well he does not expect to make the playoffs. If Strome does not want to play a cycle game along the boards and become a responsible (defensively) forward.....there is no place long term if even currently..
We get beat when other teams beat up and control the boards.. Fact. Strome is not going to become anything close to a regular #2 center. He therefore shares the #2 center job because he is an offensive skill style forward and he basically is out of place as an offensive style center on a third line. Bad skating means he cannot keep up and looses to many races to the puck as a #3 center.
So Strome is really a place holder, a luxury player whom I do not want at #3C and is merely a placeholder at #2. I do not say this lightly, but does anyone consider him a legitimate #2.
Therefore I would trade him for another center who can skate better and has a boards game. The other center might just help a line be productive due to his strength as able and willing to play boards as well as not a horrible skater
Do we really need to keep Strome around just to have an offensive center....because we have a paucity of qualified offensive centers?
Well it depends upon what you would get for him. Another center, one who plays a style we need ok fine but both Strome or the player traded for, neither is protected for The Expansion Draft.
If you choose to plug in Rockford players and dump Strome.....you get a draft choice for Strome. I doubt that you could expect anything more than a 3rd round.
If you take the draft pick, do it soon before rosters are fairly set. Or risk being stuck with him. Nobody wants to be adding players once the season begins. There is very little cap room for quite possibly all teams at least once the season begins.
.And in a pre Expansion Draft season, dealing Strome later is like the buyer taking a rental for cheap.
I have always desired the bottom two line players with a particular strength Clutch. Motor mouth pest, good along boards, solid defensively, can skate. I would rather have a Rockford player who can do a couple of those things than Strome and his limitations.
One other point. A suggestion sending Strome to Winnipeg is difficult when they got Stasny who would then make two slow centers.
I don't know what Stan will do but I know what I don't want. No Strome. Can't wait to see if Barret could be an effective player, more useful than Strome. Even though his timetable is 1-2 years away. Barret has to work on skating but I like his trajectory better than dead weight Strome. His skating may not be as big an issue BY the time he gets here and whether at wing than center.

. - jhawk59 I suggested Winnipeg but would not happen until after this season more of an offseason move when statsiney contract is up. plus buffalo will be looking for a 2nd line center behind echiel next season. If bowman was to trade strome most likely imo it be for a top six winger. Then again strome could have a bounce back year.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Stan offer a PTO to a veteran netminder. Maybe the Hawks can finally land Ryan Miller? |

The Indy Fuel (ECHL affiliate) is scheduled to start their season on December 11 with training camp opening right after Thanksgiving.
The AHL is scheduled to start on February 5, at least that's the current plan. - Theo Fox
NHL seems very close to settling on January 1 as the start date with a few exhibition games, too.
Interesting quote from Bettman:
"You'll play for 10 to 12 days. You'll play a bunch of games without traveling. You'll go back, go home for a week, be with your family. We'll have our testing protocols and all the other things you need. It's not going to be quite as effective as a bubble, but we think we can, if we go this route, minimize the risks to the extent practical and sensible. And so that's one of the things that we're talking about." |

Question: was Colliton a worse choice for head coach than:
Nagy?
Hoiberg / Boylen (yeah, both gone, and Donovan seems like a good choice, but still....)
LaRussa?
Probably not - but it’s a low bar in this town for coaches. |

From prohockeyrumors.com
Deputy commissioner Bill Daly sent a memo to each NHL team today saying that the league and NHLPA hope to make a recommendation to the board of governors on Thursday on the start date, maintaining that “the objective remains to start as early as January 1.” The memo included that the league is hoping to get back onto a regular calendar for 2021.

Good blog idea. Let me see if I can work that in, at least some variation of it.
I'm a night owl and live on the West Coast so I tend to post blogs after midnight my time so not too late for me versus the Midwesterners and East Coasters. - Theo Fox
Maybe you could reach out to the other teams' bloggers. See if they could all write one, and then do a blog that summarizes them. |

You just can't control yourself, can you? Your act is very well known - you throw out a little bait and then hide behind an "oops, sorry" after things escalate. The only purpose for doing what you've repeatedly done is to cause non-hockey related dissension. Quite despicable and it begs the question why you haven't been suspended yet?

I was trying to make a clever joke, star - lighten your one-track ass up.
If we can’t find humor in these trying times, we’re all phucked.
I’ll let you know when I do a political post - although I’m sure it would go right past you. |

It’s already going to be a short season - fewer games to evaluate the three “prospects” they have now.
Time to just suck it up and play the potential future. |
